I booked this resort months ago but became a bit nervous after reading some recent reviews. I must say that this was the perfect family vacation. My husband and I, along with our two young children were able to enjoy the beach, pool and restaurant onsite without any inconvenience. The resort was very nice without being pretentious. This created for a relaxing environment especially when traveling with rambunctious youngsters. I was impressed by how accommodating and polite the staff was without being pushy or overbearing. I have read past reviews stating the lack of quality service but I must honestly say that we saw not one sign of such. (Kudos to Damon for handling the entire beach crowd on his own during a very busy Saturday morning rush!) I must also note however, that the resort did seem to reach capacity especially during the holiday weekend...lots of little ones...so if you're contemplating a romantic weekend you may want to take note. Also, there is no onsite ATM...so keep that in mind when considering pocket money for tips, sodas, etc. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly recommend this resort especially for a relaxing family escape.

This place was wonderful. I do not know what any naysayers were talking about. I just stayed over the July 4th holiday and didn't want to leave. I am trying to plan when I can go back. All of the staff were incredibily friendly. The servers remembered what I drank and one even saw that my soda was low and brought me another on the beach and didn't charge for it. The beach was great and water was clear. Food was good. Way too much! I definitely went off the healthy eating schedule with that. The poolside barbeque created a party atmosphere with the music etc. Lazy river is fun even for adults. I am single and there were lots of families and kids but was bothersome at all. I met many from all over the place and had great conversations. The Pelican is the best! But if you are still unsure about going I will take your reservation date!

My husband and I stayed at the Pelican Grand for a business trip. The rooms were great. The beds were comfortable, overall room was spottless and the TV was a 46" plasma. (which my husband loved most of all) The pool and lazy river was wonderful. We would recommend this resort to anyone and we plan to return in the future.

We love it. Stayed for the 3rd time. Great service from everyone. Wonderful room. Good food. The staff was cheerful and accommodating. Our room was spotless as usual. We're looking forward to our next visit.

"DITTO - Consistently Terrible Service”
I really did not want to say anything bad about this hotel (I prefer to comment on the great hotels) but the comments by "Consistently Terrible Service” dated June 14, 2008 are so accurate that I have to say - Ditto!!! I will leave it at that (smile). P.S. I did enjoy the ocean view.
