I went away for a long weekend, Thursday through Sunday, for our annual girls' weekend away. I chose this resort after reading many reviews on many different places. Last year we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in South Beach. After reading some of the negative reviews, I became nervous and even thought about changing at the last minute. Boy, am I glad that we didn't! The Pelican Grand Beach Resort is a wonderful hotel. The staff could not have been any nicer and accommodating. We were greeted at the front door by Richard, the bellman, who showed us all the hotel amenities. We arrived at 12:30 and were immediately checked into our room. Our queen, ocean front suite was absolutely charming. The decor was beachy and inviting. The room was spotless. While it is not within walking distance to restaurants, cabs were not expensive and easy to get. The bellmen called for them each night for us and our wait was no longer than five minutes. Tom, the pool waiter, suggested delicious restaurants each night. We had three wonderful meals at Arubas, Mangos and Spazios. The hotel restaurant also served great lunches. The bartenders and managers at the front desk went out of their way to make our stay memorable. They even got us a piece of wedding cake from the wedding that had taken place there earlier in the day. It never seemed like we were asking too much or bothering them. The lazy river is wonderful. The view is beautiful, and this resort is, by far, one of the nicest I have stayed at, and I travel alot. It is definitely a five star!!!!! We will definitely be returninig.
