The Pelican Grand Hotel is as stunning in real life as it is in the online photos. We stayed for 4 days prior to a cruise, and I didn't want to leave to go on the cruise.
The staff were all excellent, witht he exception of a waitress in the bar who forgot to bring us our lunch one day, and then brought the wrong order. She didn't seem bothered about her shabby service either. Perhaps she was just having a bad day.
Other than that, we recieved a very warm welcome when we arrived after a nightmare flight from London that delayed us by 5 hours.
We got to our room freshened up then needed feeding- the restaurant staff were very accomodating, even though it was 9:50 and they were about to close...... I was ravenously hungry and the delighful waiter brought me a lovely shrimp cocktail to hold me over until me food arrived.
Our ocean view was fantastic. This hotel is such an idyllic spot to visit. Ft Lauderdale is a delightful and elegant place- we were captivated by the canals and yachts along the way...
I am not sure why they have valet parking at the hotel, it felt a bit difficult- do I tip the valet every time he brings me the car.. or do we tip them at the end of our stay? It seemed a bit uneccessary to have the valet parking.
The buffet breakfast was a real treat, as was the lazy river.
If you are travelling from England, the prices are all very good with the exchange rate right now. So go now!!! Peical Grand is a cut above the others. A real treat for the whole family.
We travelled as a party of 3 with 2 adults and one 15 year old boy. My son would say everything was good, but probably more 15 year old girls needed on the at the hotel to make it more interesting for him. Oh! and free internet access from the business centre. Very nice touch....
