We enjoyed our first experience at PF Changs so much that when we passed through Fort Lauderdale a year later, we had to go back again! We only had a few hours to spare so we combined a quick whiz around the mall with lunch at PF Changs before heading for the airport.
We were, however, abit disappointed as the food was not as tasty as the previous time we had been and thus shows some inconsistency, and I dear say, it changed our view of the restaurant from excellent to very good.
We visited after 1:30pm and the lunchtime crowd had mostly dissipated so the restaurant only had a few occupied tables. Despite this, the service was rather slow. It took forever to get our waiter’s attention to take our order, for drink refills and to get our bill at the end.
We were naturally more attuned to the matter of service as we didn’t have 2 hours to sit down to have a leisurely meal when we needed to get to the airport later that afternoon. And given the service that we experienced on our first visit, we were expecting the same prompt and super-efficient attention; that just did not happen.
We had the meal special for 2 persons. Our soup was only lukewarm when it arrived and the sweet & sour chicken was mainly batter and very little meat. However, we loved the crab wantons and the Kung Pao shrimp was very nice so at least half of the meal was good.
The restaurant has a relaxed ambience even though the décor is not your typical Chinese establishment which makes a welcome change. The food is not authentic Chinese but a westernised version of it, which is very unique.
Despite the hiccups, we will still go back to PF Changs on our next visit again as it is decent food in a convenient location at a reasonable price.
