“Beachfront bargain with excellent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

My husband & I recently stayed here for 2 nights whist visiting the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is beachfront, located next door to the Pelican Grand resort, just north of the main Fort Lauderdale resort area. It has around 24 rooms which are all sea facing (baring one). Our room was on the 6th floor and had clearly been recently renovated. The carpet and interior looked very fresh and new. We had 2 Queen sized beds, tv, aircon, fridge.....everything you come to expect from an American hotel. The views from the room were incredible. You are so close to the ocean I actually felt like I was on a cruise boat. The room had magnificent views down the coast in both directions. To have a sea facing room in any other hotel in this area, you will pay over double what it costs to stay here.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Carparking is free (mosty hotels charge around US $25 per day), and if there is not an obvious space you merely leave your keys at reception and the staff will take care of it for you, no stress. The swimming pool located at the back of the hotel is a lovely area to relax away from the beach, it has both shade and sun areas. There is free wifi in the restaurant and pool area.

We ate at the restaurant here one morning and the breakfast was lovely, the other morning we eat at the Pelican Grand next door. You do need a car at this hotel as the main Fort Lauderdale resort area is a good 2 miles south, we jogged this on both mornings as there is a boardwalk going all the way. We also ate here one night, walking there and getting a short taxi back to the hotel.

Overall, can't fault this hotel. Staff were excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful area!

We love to visit the Sun Tower as locals! Since they are smaller, Christine and the amazing staff treat everyone as family! The food is wonderful and you could not ask for better views...literally right on the beach! Every morning you are greeted with the most beautiful sunrise to begin the day. We love it!

Myself, my husband, and our two teen-aged children stayed at Sun Tower Hotel & Suites during Spring Break this year (2013). After combing over many reviews, making a few calls, and having a family friend that lives nearby, check this place out, we are pleased to say, the experience was great from check-in to check-out! Very relaxing, love the sandbar and rooms and pool were clean and staff very friendly! We'll definitely go back.

This was a nice small hotel RIGHT on the beach. I could hear the ocean from every spot in my room, which was a king oceanfront with a balcony. There was a lovely little bar/grill with tasty and affordable food in the hotel (also ocean front, with an outdoor patio as well as a small dining room) and a nice pool. Every employee I came across was friendly and helpful. The bed was a little too soft for my tastes, although other reviews on here felt that it was extra nice because of that. The room itself was clean and in fairly good shape. Depending on how particular you are, a few things might bother you: the bathroom sink was missing the drain plug; I never did figure out how to turn on the bedside lamps; the door to the bathroom had a few chips in the paint near the bottom; and there was a bleached-out mark on the carpet, about 6"X6". Another thing to note: for oceanfront, request the side AWAY from the restaurant. Your balcony literally looks out over people's food plates on the patio. A little awkward and not private at all. They also charged me twice by mistake (I had already paid on Booking.com). The charge went through the day I checked out, then again the day after I got home! They were unable to fix it right away when I called because the manager was unavailable (he is off on the weekends). Fortunately, my bank removed the duplicate charge at my request. I found the atmosphere just lovely and so relaxing--the proximity to the beach is the best thing about the hotel. I would definitely stay again, but would worry about being charged incorrectly.

Room Tip: Oceanfront is well worth the additional fee. Request side AWAY from the restaurant (I believe it is...

Hotel has everything - restaurant, bar, view, great room, price but best of all is the staff - all in a quiet beach area. They really make you feel at home and find ways to help you. Rooms are big, new and super clean. Make this a stop!

I stayed here a four years ago, a lost has changed, but I still love the fact that you can take less then 30 steps from the elevator to the beach. The beds are very comfortable and new, the balcony is a little on the small side, but who wants to sit there when the beach is right below us. I love how close we are to the water and it's great. The beach was cleaned this morning, and the water is clearing up due to the weather. The Bar & Grill has some good food if you don't want to leave the hotel.

We stayed there 4 nights. The room was good. It was cleaned and spacious. The chairs were uncomfortable. The beach was not very clean. The place next door raked theirs, but the Sun Tower didn't. The restaurant was good. They make a great Bloody Mary! The balcony was tiny! Just barely enough room for 2.
