Summary: This is not a high-end place, however it is spotlessly clean, comfortable and home-like, with a great courtyard (grill area, flowers, patio furniture, pool, the works) and the amenities like free high-speed internet, laundry, heated pool, etc. I particularly liked the cute courtyard and grill area. I would definitely stay here again.

We were staying an additional night in Fort Lauderdale after taking a sailing vacation, before flying out the next morning. The charter company suggested the Bali Hai, saying multiple people had stayed there and liked it, with the qualification that is not fancy.

The courtyard is much nicer than the pictures on their website show and is quite pretty. The pool and grounds are spotless and well-tended. There are flowerpots and flowering trees throughout the courtyard. There is a gas grill for guests, a patio/covered area to sit out, a porch-bench style swing with a canopy, and flowering plants. Very cute and comfortable. There is a guest laundry, although we did not use it.

The price for the room (ended up with tax being $69) seemed too good to be true, so upon arrival I asked to see a room before booking. The proprietor is nice, and she seems very sweet.
I got my choice of floors (I chose the first floor to avoid carrying luggage up stairs). She gave me a key to 2 rooms and invited me to pick the one I liked the most. One room had furniture that was a bit beaten up (had some visible scratches etc., not really a big deal), so I chose the other she gave me the key to; although the furniture was not as nice in it, it was in better condition.
The rooms are not decorated in a high-end manner, however there is a TV with cable and HBO, refridgerator, dresser, and a small table with chairs. The bed is very comfortable.
The room and bathroom etc. are absolutely spotless and impeccably clean. I liked the touch in this room of slightly lacey curtains in the bathroom window, felt less like a hotel.
The windows in the rooms are not typical windows, they are the hand-crank type, so no locks. However when you close them they clamp tightly down, and with the screens over them as well I had no worries about leaving our luggage etc. there, despite being on the ground floor. I think it would take longer to break in this type than the typical type you see! Free high-speed internet was included in the room.

I was very satisfied with the room, particularly for the price I paid!

My only complaint was that the air conditioning/heating unit in my room did not heat, it only blew cold air on the heat setting. We were there for an unusually cold night, and it would have been nice; I was too tired by the time I discovered this to switch rooms however. I found a space heater in the closet, which seemed odd to me. I did inform the proprietor about the lack of heat, who said she would have it checked.

To me this felt almost like staying as a guest at a house rather than in a hotel.

The location is nice, this was close to our charter company and restaurants, etc. We walked to a meal or two while there, there are so many places nearby, including one place literally next door.

If you want a high-end place or impressive rooms I would not look at Bali Hai. If you want a great deal for a spotlessly clean, cozy place, and don't mind some minor flaws and/or less than high-end furniture, this is your place. I have never gotten such a great and cheap deal for a safe, cozy place. I would definitely stay here again!
