First of all, I would like to apologize for my poor English, cause is not my mother language. We're a couple from Rio, Brazil, and we had the pleasure of staying at this very family and lovely hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The German couple that run the place really take care 24/7 like they are receiving family guests in their own home! The cleanliness of the room is simple perfection. The room is big with a very comfort bed, a little kitchen with all you need and a shower with a good pressure. The area is good and near the beach (by car). At night the hotel becomes a romantic place due to the soft and beautiful lights around the pool. I think it's a good, safe and family place to stay in Fort. We're thinking to return to Florida in the end of the year, and we don't know witch hotel to stay in Orlando, but we're very sure about spending a few days at Cocobelle in Fort Lauderdale again. This time with our kids. Thanks.

We stayed at the Cocobelle for a short stay before getting on a cruise. First, I read all of the complaints about the ants and I can't believe people are complaining about them. We had a few ants in our room, but they were very tiny and harmless. We saw those ants all over in Fort Lauderdale in restaurants, stores, etc... The ants are not an issue! As for the room, we stayed in a studio suite (#6), right next to the pool. Our room was very nice. It was extremely clean and very cozy. It was a short walk to the beach area. We were not at all concerned about the area as other reviews mentioned. The area was all hotels and apts/condos all the way to the beach.

The service was great, too. Dorothee couldn't have been any nicer to us. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have just returned from our second visit to the Cocobelle. We had an even better time, its the low season so occupancy was low, rates were great. We had rooms 6 & 7 and no complaints. Ants! I've read other reviews about ants, yeah we had a few, but just like at home we don't leave sugary, sweet stuff laying around, and we wipe up spills, and these ARE sugar ants so small you can barely see them. There were also little tiny crabs, some snails(see photos), frogs and even an Iguana around the property... whoopee! The owner Ernest was great, very helpful, we had a late flight out and he negotiated a VERY reasonable price for a Late-Late check out!
Worried about the surroundings?, the new Trump building and the Hilton are only a few blocks away, the vacant lots that several reviewers have referred to are pieces of land that had been cleared for new development but the current market/economy has put a halt to much of that. On our first visit a year and a half ago, the property across the street had construction equipment and giant signs showing the future home of 500K to 1 million dollar condos.

If you want to be pampered, this is not the place for you. If you want to walk a half mile to the pool... this is not the place for you.
Its a homey, small place... 20 or so rooms. no muss, no fuss!

just came back from our 2 week holiday in this resort. After looking up on trip adviser i have to say i'm a bit confused.....were people staying in the same resort as us. On arrival the first impression was "omg are we really staying here" theres vacant lots all around and the area did not look or feel safe. We stayed in room number 2 was met on arrival by the owner ernest which was pleasent enough, The room was spacious and looked clean, until the next day when we were met with ants as mentioned by the other reviews LOTS OF THEM EVERYDAY EVERYWHERE. we told ernest only to be given a can of bug spray to treat ourselves!!! The floor was tiled throughout which was very slippy when comming from the pool. This was very worring as my daughter was in and out of the pool and was constanley telling her to watch her step. We paid near on $1700
for this accomodation, which i would at a 2 star. Seriously you can get much better for less as we found out while travelling around. On the plus side there was free laundry and my daughter was offered buckets and spades for the beach. Will not be staying here again and not quite sure how this resort has got number 2 on trip advisor. We have vacted in florida 11 times and his has to be the worst accomodation we've stayed in

My Husband and I stayed at the Cocobelle for 3 nights in May, this was our second stay. The hotel is in a good location only five minutes walk from the beach and you can walk to nearby restaurants and bars. The room we stayed in was on the second floor in the corner so a little darker than our previous stay where we had room 7 pool view. We had trouble getting wiFi which was resolved quickly when my husband informed the owners. They do have trouble with their WiFi, our room location in the corner didn't help either. Dorothy greeted us and was very helpful and gave us beach chairs and you also get beach towels when you check in. This is a good value hotel for the area unless you want to stay directly on the beach and are prepared to pay for the location and parking!
