We purchased a cruise out of the Port of Miami but our flight from Buffalo came into Fort Lauderdale. We gave ourselves this extra day in case of heavy snows/airport delays out of Buffalo. We didn't want to spend the night prior to our cruise in a hotel in Miami because all of the negative traveller's reviews we read concerning hotel properties in and around the Port of Miami - seedy rough area - unclean facilities - unfriendly staff that could or would not speak english - not to mention that these hotels are over-priced for their so-so quality.
We are seasoned travellers and we are very fussy. Typically we only book 4 or 5 star rated accomodations. We like our rooms very clean, comfortable and with perfectly clean, new looking carpets and perfectly clean, new looking bedding.
So we decided to spend this one night in Fort Lauderdale then rent a car to drive to the Port of Miami the following morning.

Searching the Internet we found Cocobelle Resort. We noted that it was listed as #1 in a long list of properties. I phoned direct and spoke with the woman who owns it with her husband. She was wonderful - friendly, helpful and fun to talk with. When we arrived at Cocobelle we found out why it is listed as #1, The place is meticulously kept. This couple enjoy spending all of their time fussing over and caring for this beautiful small property. The pool is maintained extremely well and the surrounding vegetation and plants make you feel as if you are in a tropical paradise. The rooms are large and perfectly clean. Lots of special touches that people do to rooms when they really love taking care of something - we liked Cocobelle so much that we intend to book it again but this time for a full week. It 's only 3 blocks from the ocean and close to some good restaurants and activities. Cocobelle - a gorgeous little spot!!! and reasonable!

I go to South Florida every year - usually South Beach and/or the Keys, but this time was just a family get-away from the snow & cold in Indiana. The Cocobelle was a great place to just relax for us for 4 nights. The location was pretty secluded, and off the beaten path a bit. But not too long a walk to the beach - our 5 year-old son didn't think it was too far. It was nice to have a rental car to get to the grocery store or other places, but there were also things within walking distance.

Dorothee was very helpful in arranging a late check-in, due to a late arriving flight to FLL (it's not that far). Call ahead if you will get in late! This isn't a chain where they have a 24-hour front desk. She was very helpful & friendly throughout our stay.

We were in room #16, which was very nice. Clean, plenty of space, nice king bed (+ double bed that we didn't use). Free beach towels, and the pool was nice - great for the 5-year old. The kitchen was well-stocked with plates, utensils, etc. Fridge, microwave, and stove were handy. If I had to nitpick, the bathroom was small, but was clean & everything worked fine. The TV/DVD player was good to have also.

We finally did see the small monkees on the last morning - thought they were squirrels at first! Oh, and the free laundry was convenient. Overall, no complaints. If I stay in FLL again, I will call here first.

  • Liked — Room, pool, friendliness ... everything!
  • Disliked — Uh ... no big-screen HDTV?? (really stretching here to think of something)

W ell I thought it could not be as good as all the people said. But I was wrong. The cococbella resort is a 5star motel. We would of never have gone there if it had not been for the reviews on here.We dont do motels,we usually stay in nice hotels, but this is not just a motel,it is a very clean well kept 16 room motel which is lovingly looked after. The people who stay there are all friendly and most stay for a month at time every year to get away from the snow. The owners and staff care about your every need. You can wash your clothes for free and they also give you a towel for the beach. If I had to complain about anything it would be the monkeys.I so wanted to see them but to no avail..Hopefully we will go again and this time stay longer.

What a wonderful place to stay! My fiance and I had a wonderful, although short stay, at the Cocobelle. The owners are very kind and know what customer service is. They place itself is wonderfully clean, the guest rooms are beautifully done and well-kept and the pool area was a relaxing place to hang out at the end of the day. I would recommend this place to our friends and family. We will come back and stay longer next time.

Just left Fort Lauderdale on Sunday March 2nd, 2008. Stayed for 3 days after our cruise in the Caribbean. The Cocobelle was such a warm and inviting place that it was hard to leave. From the warmth of our hosts to the cleanliness of our unit I can't think of anything bad to say. On the last day we spent our time at the pool and took a very short walk to the beach. If you are like our family and just want to relax and enjoy the offerings of a nice location, the Cocobelle is the place to go. My only concern is that the next time I go to Fort Lauderdale there will be no vacancies and our family will be forced to find another place to stay. Why I'm telling you about this hidden jewel I don't know. I'd like to keep it to myself. Trust me, I travel a lot. You won't be disappointed.
