We purchased a cruise out of the Port of Miami but our flight from Buffalo came into Fort Lauderdale. We gave ourselves this extra day in case of heavy snows/airport delays out of Buffalo. We didn't want to spend the night prior to our cruise in a hotel in Miami because all of the negative traveller's reviews we read concerning hotel properties in and around the Port of Miami - seedy rough area - unclean facilities - unfriendly staff that could or would not speak english - not to mention that these hotels are over-priced for their so-so quality.
We are seasoned travellers and we are very fussy. Typically we only book 4 or 5 star rated accomodations. We like our rooms very clean, comfortable and with perfectly clean, new looking carpets and perfectly clean, new looking bedding.
So we decided to spend this one night in Fort Lauderdale then rent a car to drive to the Port of Miami the following morning.
Searching the Internet we found Cocobelle Resort. We noted that it was listed as #1 in a long list of properties. I phoned direct and spoke with the woman who owns it with her husband. She was wonderful - friendly, helpful and fun to talk with. When we arrived at Cocobelle we found out why it is listed as #1, The place is meticulously kept. This couple enjoy spending all of their time fussing over and caring for this beautiful small property. The pool is maintained extremely well and the surrounding vegetation and plants make you feel as if you are in a tropical paradise. The rooms are large and perfectly clean. Lots of special touches that people do to rooms when they really love taking care of something - we liked Cocobelle so much that we intend to book it again but this time for a full week. It 's only 3 blocks from the ocean and close to some good restaurants and activities. Cocobelle - a gorgeous little spot!!! and reasonable!
