this has got to be one of the nicest and catering hotels I've frequented over the past few years. St. Regis thought of everthing to make you feel super special. The staff are just waiting to help and ask if your stay is enjoyable. I stayed there for a couple of days while on business and didn't want to leave. It's hard to list everything that went right at St. Regis Ft. Lauderdale...but I'll list my top 5, in order:
1. The best service I've ever experienced (the entire staff addressed me by my last name everytime they saw me...including the door man- not sure how they all knew my name since I didn't see them all during checkin). The valet gets the car and brings you a cold bottle of water each time. Oh and don't forget every guest gets a butler (I didn't need mine). Really friendly and caring people... they picked the best to service you. Felt so comfortable.
2. Excellent appearance, seemed lavish and super clean.. .well its brand "NEW"
3. Very tranquil pool and lounge area
4. Standard rooms were more like suites (in my opinion)
5. Convenient to beach and loads of restaurants

not a complaint at all... and I can be picky. Loved this place and will definitely be back as often as possible.

  • Liked — The service and meticulous presentation from lobby to guest room
  • Disliked — can't think of anything

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the St. Regis for one night in August. Finding the hotel was something of a challenge, as the signage was so discreet it was almost unnoticeable.

Upon arrival, our car was immediately surrounded by helpful staff. Check in was effortless and we were upgraded to an oceanview room. When our butler escorted us to our room, she determined that the room would not be large enough for the rollaway bed we had requested. We were then taken to a larger oceanview room (one with a separate seating area). This further upgrade was greatly appreciated as it made maneuvering our daughter's wheelchair much easier. Our butler then explained the features of the room and brought ice.

The room was luxurious and immaculate. Furnishings were of top quality and the decorating was tasteful. We were pleasantly surprised by an in-room DVD player with sound system; a T.V. mounted on the mirror in the bathroom; a spacious and well-appointed closet with bathrobes, wooden and padded hangers, a safe and umbrella. The bar was well stocked and, surprisingly enough, not exoribItantly priced. It was truly first-class all the way.

The service at the St. Regis is exceptional. Staff anticipated our needs (the doorman always rushed ahead to open doors and even offered us an umbrella when we were heading for a walk on the beach). They were eager to accommodate any requests we had, such as hurrying our service along at breakfast and providing some off menu items for our daughter.

Room service meals (a prime sirloin burger and lobster avocado club) were excellent, as was breakfast (citrus cured salmon, buttermilk pancakes and an assortment of baked goods). Attentive service was evident in the amuses-bouche strawberry banana shooters which arrived before breakfast and the complimentary raspberry lemon ices distributed on our visit to the pool area later in the morning.

The exercise room is first rate and overlooks the intracoastal waterway. The pool area is outstanding as well with comfortable loungers and marble, tile and stainless steel in the change rooms.

The only negative to the whole trip (and this was minor) was difficulty connecting to the internet. The butler whisked away my computer and returned it. Unfortunately, it did not work.

What to expect from the St. Regis? First class accommodations, congenial and attentive staff, and an excellent location directly across from the beach. I would highly recommend it as a couples destination. There is a lot to do in Fort Lauderdale, but you will probably not want to leave the hotel once you get there. We certainly didn't!

  • Liked — Attentive service for those with special needs
  • Disliked — Difficulty finding property because of small sign on front (one way street north) and no sign on back of hotel (one way street south)

Stayed two days at The St. Regis in September. It is the most off season of the year so the hotel, as well as Ft. Lauderdale was not very croweded. I had not been to Ft. Lauderdale since my spring break days in the 70's and it has changed alot, but it is still in transition. Tthe Hilton is open and the Trump and W are still under construction, so once those are up, the town will be a little more upscale, but for now, still very mixed. I saw a hotel next to the St. Regis with rooms for $59. Lots of noise nextdoor from the bars and Hooters and the like, but fun. When you get into the St. Regis, you are in a different world. Excellent hotel, service, decor, cleanliness, etc. Beautiful views, rooms, beds. What else can I say? The rooms are very quiet with the doors and windows closed so the nose from the clubs do not keep you up. I haven't stayed at the HIlton and I don't know what the Trump or W will be like, but this is clearly the nicest place to stay in Ft. Lauderdale if you don't mind the price.

  • Liked — Brand new, clean and luxurious
  • Disliked — Prices, but you get what you pay for.

I absolutely agree with comments made a few reviews back. The staff at check in are horribly snooty as well as incredibly pompous especially the bolsy concierge. To be fair it was actually rather amusing to observe very unimportant people full of self importance! This I have discovered is often the way in life and vice versa!

This hotel for some reason does not seem well versed in starwood membership benefits and I got the distinct impression that they thought their 'brand' far too important to participate in offering these perks..Having stayed in starwood hotels in over 70 countries I have never been told that I could not have a late check out-ever. I was told on several occasions that because The ST REGIS was a resort it did not participate in allowing late check outs. What a croc!! Bear in mind this hotel at the time of my stay was practically empty so there was absolutely no reason why a late check out was such an issue.

Another irritant was the housekeeping personnel who found it acceptable to empty water from the sink where I had left my bikini soaking and had just left it lying dripping wet on the sink? WHY? I also noticed that some half eaten snacks were thrown out and open bottles of water disposed of? I found this highly intrusive.

The good

The pool area was fabulous very well designed so you do not see the road between the hotel and the ocean. The bar staff were wonderful they could not do enough for you. The food was really fresh and of high quality.

The rooms are brand new! The bed was luxurious with lovely white linen which I love!

In summary this is a great place to chill out around the pool and drink cocktails, eat great food and experience friendly efficient service. If I could have bypassed the lobby area throughout my stay and banned the over zealous housekeeping personnel from my room my stay would have been perfect.

Stayed at St. Regis Ft. Lauderdale for 5 days over Labor Day and had a very enjoyable experience. Highlights: gorgeous soft contemporary décor (pictures on web site are very representative of the property, even nicer in person), lovely wine bar with some 1,500 varieties, nice restaurant (crab risotto and red snapper worth mentioning), spacious rooms with flat screen TV, good AC, large tub and shower, nice pool area, large fitness facility (at least 12 pieces of equipment in addition to 10 or so cardio machines), beautiful spa, very friendly staff and hotel located directly across the street from the gay beach (a big plus for gay tourists). Areas to improve: pool area needs a little attention (could use a few more palms and tropical plants to give it a more “resort” feel. Also some of the planter boxes are already coming apart). As for sound, though you can hear virtually no outside noise when the sliding door to your is closed, internally the hotel can be a bit noisy. The doors to the rooms are heavy and you hear lots of slamming throughout the day (and night to the extent folks are coming and going). Also, if guests in the adjoining room are out on their balcony, you can hear and see them through the shear material that separates the balconies visually. We had some New Yorkers that decided to have an argument on the balcony at the same time we were napping. Not good. The hotel staff, though quite numerous, can give you the impression of being a bit inexperienced (but I found almost all to be very approachable and accommodating). The surrounding area is a bit on the rough side and there is nothing within immediate walking distance in terms of restaurants, etc. You will need to taxi everywhere or drive a car. The area may change over time as other properties like the W and the Trump open just a few blocks away. But for now, the hotel is an island, which is fine if you want to stay close to the property and just hang out by the pool, go to the spa, workout, have dinner in the hotel, a nice glass of champagne at the end of the day, etc. If this is what you want to do, and you want to be in Ft. Lauderdale in particular, the St. Regis is the best choice for a hotel.

  • Liked — Beautiful environment overall
  • Disliked — lack of nice restaurants, bars within walking distance
