“Excellent Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2008

I booked seven rooms at this hotel in November for my wedding party. Since this was a special event I had higher expectations than usual. I am happy to say that this hotel exceeded those expectations in quality, value and service.

The location is within walking distance of good restaurants, the rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The added refrigerator and kitchen sink are clean and useful as well.

My only complaint would be that I was told there was shuttle service to the cruise port for my wedding party. After my parties arrival, we learned that the shuttle service was not offered until approx. 11 am. We had to leave by 9:30 am. Therefore, we had to arrange for transportation (company info available at their front desk) and pay $7/person plus tips to arrive at the cruise port on-time for our wedding ceremony.

We used this hotel when we flew into Ft. Lauderdale before a cruise. Since our flight landed so late at night, we decided to stay by the airport and then drive out to Miami the next day. When we arrived at FLL, the Courtesy Center indicated that the hotel ran shuttles at regular intervals except between 11pm and 5 am. Since it was only about 9pm we went out to the shuttle stop and waited. When the shuttle hadn't shown up by 9:20 or so, I called the hotel only to be told they had to "get the driver and send him over". The shuttle finally showed up about 9:45. It was approx. 10pm before we arrived at the hotel. All in all, the room was nicely appointed and adequate for our needs. The next morning, my husband and I took the shuttle back to the airport and picked up our rental car with no problems. Checkout was a breeze.

  • Liked — proximity to the airport
  • Disliked — shuttle service at night

We stayed in this hotel using hotel points for a pre-cruise night. It was a nice, comfortable hotel. It's great for a one night stay but it's fairly isolated.

It is a room with a kitchenette, large fridge, microwave, dishes, etc. The bed was very comforable. Clean bathroom.

Stayed here before our cruise. Free airport shuttle was efficient. Shuttle to cruiseport was $7 per person at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30 - first come, first serve but they had a sign-up list the day before. Again, very efficient. Room was beautiful, cherry woods, warm colors, granite counters. Bed was very comfortable. Full kitchen with all utensils. Large 32" TV. Free internet. Nice desk. Bathroom had very nice vanity - surprising for a hotel. Extra pillows were promptly delivered. Workout room was nicer than most. Had a "pantry" where you could buy microwavable foods, including frozen food. Pricey but good in a pinch. Location is close to air and sea ports, but on a busy street with mostly strip malls and small hotels. There are a few restaurants within walking distance - an authentic German place, a nice Italian place (we stopped in but it was 1 1/2 hr wait without reservations), a diner. About 3 long blocks away we found a fabulous South American restaurant. It was across from the Walgreen's. It was rather nondescript on the outside, but had a wonderful atmosphere on the inside. The food was excellent as well as the service. A gem in a rather drab area. Don't remember the name, but the sign says it is South American. There is also a grocery store, liquor store, donut shop (where we bought muffins for breakfast) across the street from the hotel.

We stayed here for the night before our Royal Carribbean cruise. They offered free shuttle from Ft.Lauderdale airport so that was convenient. There is nothing within walking distance of the hotel- you would need a car if staying longer than one night. We ordered delivery service from a local pizzeria for dinner - they have menus available at the front desk. The set up of the room was great- they had a whole kitchen! We basically got in late around 5Pm and just used it to sleep, but it was very clean and the beds comfy. would stay here again before a cruise.

My stay at the candlewood suites in Ft. Lauderdale was a very positive one. When I checked in ( I had 2 rooms) the rooms were both very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones I have slept in. The sheets and towels were new and very nice. They had a full kitchen, the only problem we had was that in both rooms there wasnt a spatula for eggs in the morning. But the hotel was clean and front desk was very polite, including the night person. I would recomend this hotel to anyone. It was a pleasant experience and I will return.
