Just returned from a week at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort with my sister and two elderly parents. My sister and I shared a two-queen studio, while my parents had a king studio. We had a wonderful ocean view from the 14th floor. We have never had a vacation where the staff of a hotel was so friendly and eager to please. They were helpful to my parents in bringing the balcony table and chairs inside so they would be able to have their breakfast and lunch in their room. Rooms were immaculate and anything you might need was brought up immediately, e.g. wine glasses, corkscrew, slippers. Bed turndown service at night was an unexpected plus. We spent every day at the beautiful pool and only had a problem one day (the Sunday before Labor Day) getting chaise lounges. Unfortunately, due to the high winds caused by the fringes of Hurricane Gustav and Hannah, we were not able to have umbrellas except for our first day. Everything that has been written about ice water, cold towels and samples of the "drink of the day" is true! You do get this free extra service! Prices for drinks/wine at the pool from Ilios are steep--$11-12 per drink. We did have our first night's dinner in Ilios and found it to be very, very expensive with a limited choice menu. Just opened in the hotel is Le Marche, a cute little cafeteria type restaurant/French bakery, where prices were more reasonable. If anyone is looking for a good Italian restaurant, go to H2o about a half mile south on A1A. The Deck, (3 blocks north on A1A was great for an inexpensive, full breakfast outside. We will definitely return to the Hilton again.
