Just returned from a week at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort with my sister and two elderly parents. My sister and I shared a two-queen studio, while my parents had a king studio. We had a wonderful ocean view from the 14th floor. We have never had a vacation where the staff of a hotel was so friendly and eager to please. They were helpful to my parents in bringing the balcony table and chairs inside so they would be able to have their breakfast and lunch in their room. Rooms were immaculate and anything you might need was brought up immediately, e.g. wine glasses, corkscrew, slippers. Bed turndown service at night was an unexpected plus. We spent every day at the beautiful pool and only had a problem one day (the Sunday before Labor Day) getting chaise lounges. Unfortunately, due to the high winds caused by the fringes of Hurricane Gustav and Hannah, we were not able to have umbrellas except for our first day. Everything that has been written about ice water, cold towels and samples of the "drink of the day" is true! You do get this free extra service! Prices for drinks/wine at the pool from Ilios are steep--$11-12 per drink. We did have our first night's dinner in Ilios and found it to be very, very expensive with a limited choice menu. Just opened in the hotel is Le Marche, a cute little cafeteria type restaurant/French bakery, where prices were more reasonable. If anyone is looking for a good Italian restaurant, go to H2o about a half mile south on A1A. The Deck, (3 blocks north on A1A was great for an inexpensive, full breakfast outside. We will definitely return to the Hilton again.

My wife and I stayed for four nights at the Hilton in late August , along with our two teenage sons. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a 1 bedroom oceanview suite - beds were very comfortable. The hotel was beautiful, all staff were exceptionally attentive, and every request we had was met with a smile. Very smooth and easy checkin - we had requested a room on a lower floor, which we received. The bellman got us settled in our room and quickly oriented to the city so we could find a place for dinner that evening, and for grocery shopping. We like to fix our own breakfasts and lunches while travelling, and the hotel quickly stocked the kitchen with dishes, utensils, toaster, etc on our request. My son and I used the exercise room - well equipped with 5 or 6 treadmills, elliptical machines, several different weight machines, free weights, etc. The pool was lovely, although only 4 feet at its deepest point. The beach area was great - hotel provides towel service on the beach, free water, and umbrellas/chairs for rent. We had no trouble crossing the road to access the beach. A great experience, and we were sorry to leave. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

  • Liked — location, clean and modern, attentive staff
  • Disliked — pricey extra services - valet parking, internet access

Stayed in this hotel for 10 nights. In general hubby and I loved it, sleek and classy deco, large suite (stayed in studio suite) with convenient kitchenette. Regarding the kitchen utensils, we just requested them upon arrival and they were provided for us right away. Service by the way it's pretty good. Location is perfect for sunning, right across the beach, the sea is so close! Beach was delightful, water was warm and clean. We actually spent most of the time in the beach since pool was so crowded. And that's the only big con of this beautiful place. Pool area is elegant and well appointed but it was packed. I just think it's not big enough for the number of guests they get, especially because so many are families with kids. I also think it's ridiculous they allow ballgames in the pool. So you are not only sharing precious little space with numerous people, but also ducking flying projectiles left and right!
We were also recommended the restaurant Casablanca (about 3-4 blocks from the hotel). We didn't like it. Ambiance is very pretty but food was not good enough for the prices they charge. This is when having a car (which we did and think is ideal if you are staying here) comes in handy, because there are plenty of good dining places around but most of them are not at walking distance
So if you do have a car, I recommend "The Melting Pot", awesome fondue restaurant on North Federal Highway (it's a chain, so probably many americans are familiar with it, I wasn't since I'm from Canada) and the creperie on Las Olas Blvd (I don't remember the name, but I think is the only one called creperie). Also there's a decent and very reasonably priced Mexican Restaurant on Sunrise Blvd, called "La Cantina".
All in all, we would go back to the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale, but maybe in a less busy time so we can get some peaceful pool time (pool beds were actually really comfortable!).

  • Liked — Sleek Deco, great, comfy and modern room, great room view
  • Disliked — crowded, noisy pool
