We had a wonderful Ft. lauderdale vacation and overall really enjoyed the Hilton. But, there are definitely things this hotel needs to improve on.

In my opinion , their biggest problem is that they are short staffed. There are just not enough employees to run this hotel efficiently. And many of their staff (housekeeping in particular) don't speak one word of english. So, even trying to get a pillow is difficult.

On our last day, they were so short-staffed at the pool, the manager was taking drink orders....

I think they are very aware of their shortcomings as we saw many of the staff listen to complaining visitors. In this economy, I would be surprised if they can't find staff..so why Hilton is fixing this problem is puzzling. If there is a problem finding workers down there, that huge W hotel that is going in next door is going to be in big trouble.

Other downsides: too few elevators..you have to wait a lot for elevators. We saw lots of people taking the stairs. Parking..$29. a day? No thanks. Not a lot of dining options in walking distance. Especially for a casual lunch... Hopefully this will change with the other new hotels going in. The charge for umbrellas and chairs at the beach...bummer. And the pool is too small for this size hotel. Oh, and although there is construction going on next door, it didn't bother us a bit.

Now..there are a lot of plusses here too. We LOVED our suite. We got upgraded from an oceanview one bedroom suite to an oceanfront one bedroom suite for only $30. extra a day. The room was fantastic...beautiful view, wonderful kitchen, spacious, clean, awesome balcony, perfect!! We had our two young boys with us and made breakfast everyday in the room which worked perfectly. We ran to the Winn Dixie ($10 cab ride each way) and stocked up on food. Oh, and there is a gourmet shop going in soon in the hotel which will be a great addition.

We found the staff (although there were not enough of them) to be very helpful and courteous. So, no complaints there.

So, its not perfect but don't let it ruin your trip. We had a wonderful time and can see going back.

We stayed here for 5 days over Easter Break. We had a studio with 3 people in it. I would say it was cramped as we didn't have enough storage space for our stuff (and we're light travellers). The hotel was clean (and new, not even completed yet) and anything that was amiss was taken care of quickly. That said, I realize it was a busy week but my check in experience was less than acceptable. Check in was at 3 but it took almost 2 hours before I was able to get into a room and that was only afer I started to throw a hissy fit when I realized there were people who came in after me that were given rooms immediately. To placte me while I did wait for my room they gave me a voucher to Ilios, the resturaunt on the 6th floor (overlooking the pool). For $50 we got two caeser salads, a glass of white wine and a soda for my son. Honestly for that cost the food was "ok" but nothing spectacular, just overpriced. The pool area is very nice but I suggest you get there early during busy times or you won't find a space. I also suggest that the spots overlooking the beach are the best. If you lay by the pool be prepared to be splashed by rowdy kids :-) The health club is also nice and clean but way too small for a hotel this size. It too was overcrowded and just about impossible to get a decent work out. There was not enough space or equipment for everyone who was there.

So, bottom line, if you are going in an off peak time I'm sure you will have a good experience at this hotel, it's clean and the staff (except the one bad check in experience) is friendly and helpful. If you are more than 2 people I would suggest you go for a larger room as the studio was cramped.

This is a good place to stay, you can walk to great eating places and the beach is nice. Our suite was large and clean enough. I was surprised that the walls needed painting, the bathroom could have used a deeper cleaning---as the hotel appears to be fairly new. BEWARE of the construction, it is on both sides and you hear it about 7 am every morning. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool area is great, crowded but really nice.

1) the hotel is NOT directly on the beach, u actaully have to cross a very busy 2 way street to get to the other side.

2) if u want a beach chair on the beach u have to rent one for $10 bucks a day, this can add up if ur planning on staying a few days

3)the only form of parking is valet parking for $29 bucks a day plus tax, again this can really add up , do the math

all in the all the hotel is really nice, the concierge was very helpful, but if ur paying this much money to stay at the pool u dont have to pay for oceanfron, we actually considered staying at teh PELICAN BREIF which is very close but they were a bit more, with all the parking fees and beach chairs, it would have actaully ended up being cheaper..........and they have a private beac, ironic aint it

  • Liked — very clean rooms, great concierge help
  • Disliked — the false advertisement, and the way they manage to disguise many issues that would make u not pick this hotel
