We booked this hotel for a ten-day stay over the Christmas holidays based on Tripadvisor comments and we were not disappointed. Our two bedroom suite was not ideally configured for our family - our son wound up on the couch in the living room, but he had his own 37" flat screen so he did not complain too much. We were on the 25th floor with a small ocean view terrace off the master bedroom and a wrap around terrace facing the Intercoastal and the house shared by Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson years ago. The effect was spectacular.
The modern furnishings were very tasteful and the beds comfortable. Housekeeping kept the room spotless and recharged the amenities at a good clip.
The hotel's breakfast buffet for 2 at Ilio's was included in our rate (make sure you get your vouchers at check-in) and we were very pleased with the quality, although they could use more variety of hot items. Lunch is even better with a great burger and gourmet salads. The mediterranean style breads are also great.
The conceiege staff can point you in the right direction for dinner.
I have a few small criticisms. First, neither the gift shop nor the main restaruant are open yet. There are many dinner options within a short walk, but if you want to stay on the property you are limited to the Ilio's coffee shop. If you want a magazine or a beach novel you'll be walking to the Sheraton. Second, as the hotel filled toward the New Year's peak, the shortage of lounge chairs by the pool led to people going down at 7 a.m. to place an item on a chair and reserve, and also some disputes between guests. An additional ten or twenty chairs might solve the problem. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the hotel provides only towels and water on the beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas are an extra charge, which is paid to a private company.. For a family of four, four chairs and an umbrella would run you $55 for each day on the beach. Third, I find a $27 parking charge a bit high. as this not a downtown location.
None of these problems would keep me from returning. I would probably invest in a few cheap beach charis and towels on arrival and use the beach more. It would also be nice if you could get a two bedroom suite with a king in the master and two full or queen beds in the other bedroom for families of four.
Overall a gorgeous hotel in a great location with friendly staff. I miss it already.
