Our family enjoyed our stay for a week at Vistamar in Fort Lauderdale. We have had friends stay there a number of times over the last two years and they recommended it to us. The kids enjoyed the pool, and the once a day rain shower (in July) was a short and refreshing one. The rooms were clean with cable, A.C.,Internet, phone, kitchenette, and two double beds and a pull out. John and Mary were very hospitable, serviced the rooms as expected. The guest we met in the pool & patio were repeat customers from California and they also spoke kindly of the hosts and the other repeat guest. It is a great location to base your activities for the area, and we'd recommend it to others.

The hotel was nice However! The owners were horrible and rude. They never cleaned our room once! They acted liked we were bothering them, we are a quiet couple and didn't ask for much, however we were horrified by the owners. We needed clean towels and they acted like we were asking for gold! We would walk by and say Hi they completely ignored us, we were not the only people who felt this way it was a horrible experience!

A friend recommended Vistamar Villa in Ft. Lauderdale for a relaxing one week vacation with our child.

Great place. It's set back 2 blocks from the ocean. It backs onto about 50 acres of wilderness, and our daughter fed wild monkeys on adoining acreage over the back fence. The wilderness area is a sanctuary called Bonnett House.

If you want an efficiency apt. (one separate bedroom, kitchen, living room with pull out couch), then this is the place for you.

$90 per night, but rates vary by season. There are approx. 14 suites.

International guests (Germans, Canadians) and American travellers during our stay.

Hosts are John and Mary, and they are in their second year of ownership. You get the sense of pride from new owners - they've put in new furnishings and added a "personal touch" to the property.

They will not "oversell you". The structure is the usual two storey Ft. Lauderdale walk-up and it is two short blocks from the beach. But, when you talk to guests who have been coming back for years you get a sense of why they are returning.

And, I didn't even mention the pool. About 30' long, and perfectly located in sunshine the whole day. We sat on the second floor balcony, and watched our 'swimmer' laugh and play all day.

FYI - I am a lawyer, and have stayed at Sheraton, Fairmont, etc. over the years. If you want multi-story, elevator style accomodations, go for it. I find that the rooms in those places are so far from the pool, that once you get to the room, you watch TV, etc. and rarely make much use of the pool/amenities.

If you want a simple, clean two storey accomodation where you will connect with family/other guests/community, try Vistamar Villa.
