We went to this hotel during the BCS Championship game so we had no intentions in spending a lot of time in the hotel. First impression - the front desk. 4 people - 1 girl on the phone - 1 girl rushing me through check in without so much as a hello and 2 others just standing around. I understand it was a crazy weekend. The room was just OK and pretty clean. The floors were ceramic tiled - no carpet. The bed was made up nicely - clean sheets but the mattress was a bit tired and not too comfortable. The bathroom was clean but a little mold around the caulking in the tub. The biggest issue with the room was the air conditioner - it was so loud it sounded like a helicopter landing every time it booted back on which it went on and off all night. Have TV remote in hand if you are trying to watch because you will need to turn it up and down the entire time!
Now the pros - the location. We were less than 2 miles from the FLL airport and although we were not cruising it wasn't much further to the cruise port. The hotel offered a shuttle to and from the cruise port which seemed to be pretty organized in the morning (i do not know if it was a fee for this service) We rented a car so it was pretty close for driving to restaurants. Now all the cruise announcements were on loudspeaker starting pretty early. We are early risers so this didn't bother us but it might bother other non cruisers that aren't so early risers. The hotel was also offering a shuttle to Sun Life stadium for a $25 RT fee. There was a breakfast that was OK - the usual waffles, cereal, bagels. The wi-fi connection was decent - free and we used it the entire time. 2nd night stay we came back to the room and the room key didn't work - went to the front desk to get it straightened out. Asked me my room number - repunched the keys and tossed them back on the counter without so much of a "sorry about that"! The guy (Izzy?)directing all the cruisers in the morning was very helpful and gave us a suggestion on the best beach and how to get there so that stepped up my service score a bit.
So this wasn't a top of the line place but for a quick stop over for a game or cruise - it was OK.

Izzy and his staff are great! They have this down pat. They have a free shuttle to pick you up at the airport and a free shuttle to get you to the cruise ship the next morning - door to door with minimal walking and you are on time, everytime. You never have to touch your bags again from the moment you get on the shuttle. Great, fast service. You have to get up early to catch the free breakfast but if you miss it - no big deal - you will be eating in no time on the ship. Very clean, quiet, comfortable rooms with food service call out with delivery right to your room. The most reasonable way and place to stay when leaving on a cruise. We spoke with one couple that had stayed here everytime they took a cruise - 35 times!

Have to say contrary to other reviewers, we highly advise not to chose this motel under any circumstances as our stay in Dec 2012 was littered with numerous problems from (a) the point of check in, which took almost 1/2 hour due to under-staffing to (b) our room having to be changed due to multiple maintenance issues not immediately solvable by evening staff to (c) Izzy (the Mgr/GM) causing us to be very nearly late for our cruise due to poor shuttle scheduling on his part - we had even pre-arranged a specific shuttle departure time in advance and still ended up leaving over an hour late that time. We even experienced (d) a very poor experience at the onsite restaurant (see separate review).

Yes, we did speak to staff & management numerous times during our one night stay. The evening staff at the desk was very efficient in getting us a different room when the original was not satisfactory but all other contact with management did not resolve anything and at times was actually quite patronizing.

As Diamond Level Choice Privileges members we travel extensively and are more then satisfied with the many levels of Choice Hotel Properties, and it is because of that affiliation we chose this property, however once in a while we make a poor choice and this was ours for 2012.

Best advise, stay elsewhere.

Me and my husband spent in this hotel only one night. We arrived around 8pm. on second day of Christmas so we realised that over Christmas people are not working normally. We booked our room 4 months in advance. Receptionist (not extremaly nice) told us that she does not have a pre-booked room for us because room service is not working that day. Instead of upgrading our room for free which is a normal procedure in such situation, she told us that for a better room with need to pay additionally, which we did not want. So she gave us worse room. Room was very basic, just to survive one night. Floor was horrible in the bathroom. However, parking and Internet is for free. Well, this hotel is good option if you are going to spend in it only one night.
