There are more than a dozen gay guest houses in this neighborhood adjacent to Fort Lauderdale Beach. I`ve stayed at many of them and taken tours of the rest. You`ll find everything from outrageously expensive properites with Four Seasons style furnishings, service and amenties (along with the requisite wealthy and pompous clientele), to low end places with shabby, cheap surroundings, indifferent hosts and young circuit party twink boy guests. Mercifully there are other options that fall somewhere in the middle of this spectrum. These are the kind of places I prefer, but having recently found Cheston House, I will look no further. This is a remarkable find with an extroverted, helpful staff, friendly and diverse guests and a stellar and quiet location. I have never experienced a cleaner, more pristine hostelry. The beautifully landscaped pool area and interiors are immacualtely maintained. There is a Fort Lauderdale city ordinance that requires pre-packaged pastries, bagels, etc. at bed and breakfast establishments like this which makes it a challenge to get creative in this department. Nevertheless, the breakfast options are still plentiful and nicely presented. The afternoon cocktail hour is an added bonus. Cheston house is a remarkable, reasonably priced find and will become my home for my frequent Fort Lauderdale vacations. Kudos to the owner and staff for knowing what hospitality is all about. Perhaps you should give classes to your nearby competition.

My partner and I stayed at Cheston House because of the good reviews it received on TripAdvisor.

Upon checking in, we were immediately greeted by the staff and given a tour. The staff was very friendly and constantly made sure we were satisfied with the place. The grounds and rooms were very clean. The breakfast, although basic, was adequate. The happy hour was a nice touch.

We stayed during the low season, so we were the only ones and the place on the first night and another guest checked in on our second night! It was nice that the place wasn't crowded!

This is a clothing optional resort, and we took advantage of that. We alos loved how the place was only a 10 minute walk to the gay beach.

We had a good stay and would recommend it to others.

We've stayed at Cheston House five times, and look forward to it eagerly every year. The place is perfectly located, right near the beach, but on a quiet street. It's beautifully kept up, always clean and with a lot of nice touches. The staff is friendly, cheerful and always eager to help in any way, especially Bill the manager, who lives on the premises. Great pool with plenty of space, a perfect location to relax for whole afternoons. But the best part is the friendly, interesting, unpretentious clientele--we always meet great people to talk with, go out to eat with, etc. There are many repeat guests, so you begin to see some of the same guys every year, and they become real friends. It's great for young and older people alike. After a couple of stays, you get a discount on the rates, too. The only bad part is that we always have to leave before we want to!

We stayed at the Cheston House between Christmas and New Year's. What a way to spend the holiday week! We were pleased from the moment we checked in until we sadly walked away to head home.
The staff are the best. They became like good friends during the week we were there. They kept the place--including our room--spotless. Someone was always available to give directions, provide beach chairs or sunscreen, or ask about our stay. We often sat around the pool after breakfast only to find our room already cleaned when we went in to prepare for the rest of the day!
The continental breakfast was a good way to start the day around the pool with other guests. And we always planned our beach time in order to be back for the daily cocktail hour. This also proved to be a good time to meet the other guests from around the country and beyond.
The 24-hour pool was heated and spotless. There were plenty of lounge chairs for catching some sun--also shade for those who preferred.
We thank manager Bill and the fantastic Cheston House staff for making sure we had one of the best vacations ever. If I didn't know better, I'd give them credit for the sunny, 80-degree weather we expreienced! I know they'd do it if they could!
