Ok, first of all, I want to agree with a lot of what the other reviewers have said about this place. . .it is safe, it is less expensive than a lot of the other places around, the owner and staff are nice, etc.

However, I think that some important points need to be made about this property:

#1. LOCATION: overall this is a selling point of the property. However, the construction across the street is quite loud and the entire block around the construction site is quite dirty. I know that this is not the fault of the property and will not be a long-term issue. But, for those going to Ft. Lauderdale in the next few months, beware.

#2. HOTEL AMENITIES: this is probably one of the biggest disappointments for us, as we read the previous posts about the heated pool. The pool was quite cold when we got there. Right before we left, several guests complained about the pool and it was determined that the pool heater was turned off. When the heater was finally turned on, it never was as warm as billed but at least it was bearable. I just wish they had discovered the error sooner. Hopefully, this won't be an issue for future guests. The other complaint I have with the pool is that the management did not apologize or offer a discount; instead they just complained that some guest must have turned it off.

The other amenities of the property are quite minimal. The property does supply beach towels and beach toys for kids; they are not very new, however. By far, the best selling point is the beach, which is a 2 block walk away.

#3. SERVICE: This is the biggest problem of the property, specifically the poor maid service. As mentioned above, the best thing going about this property is its close proximity to a gorgeous beach. But, no matter how careful you are, you always end up with some sand in your room. Our room's floor was never cleaned and our sheets never changed during our 5 day stay. We ended up having to wear socks around the rooms. When I did ask for new sheets one afternoon (after our room was "cleaned"), all I was given was one topsheet and no offer to change the sheets. I could understand this if this property was a condo or timeshare, but it is not.

#4. ROOM DESCRIPTION: This is another big problem with the property. These rooms are very dated and need some TLC. Our room had blinds falling down (they actually did fall several times with minimal provocation), light bulbs were 75% blown out, and all the walls needed repair and new paint. Also, there is too much furniture in each room, leaving barely any space to walk. The furniture, too, is dated and needs repair (2 of the dressers had handles coming off or drawer damage). Now, some of you may be saying at this point that my expectations are too high for the low room rate. Also, some of you may argue that this is an older property with "character." I disagree; this is basic stuff that should be fixed no matter the room rate.

Overall, this place is definitely not a dump and is a good find in an area of high-priced hotels. However, it clearly does not deserve a #3 ranking in the trip advisor list. The dated, crowded rooms need renovation and the maid service is sub-standard. Also, the attention to detail (i.e. not allowing the heated pool to become frigid) is lacking.

Angela's cannot fulfil expectatioins of those who expect the Ritz Carlton or similar hotel. We strive to keep rates affordable, particularly when compared to the $700 per night hotels that surround us. Like other small hotels in Florida, we have just recovered from hurricane Wilma and have spent nearly$200,000 refurbishing our hotel. A new roof, a new fence (security is important to us), new windows, new awnings, new appliances (many died due to power surges prompted by the hurricane and its aftermath). We know that we have more to do including painting (we de some of this every week, taking a different area of the hotel), placing more furniture, but our budget is based on the rates we charge -- and we are determined to stay affordable!!!! FIf this guest wanted a perfect hotel, we recommend the Pillars on Birch Road; this is a lovely small hotel which charges twicfe what we charge based on their website.
.

We change sheets every 3 days because we are environmentally consc ious.

If sand is on the floor, the guest must take some responsibility for not showing before entering the room as we request that they do.

Our maid is wonderful. Nothing was ever bnrought to our attention by any guest about her. In fact, guests regularly compliment us for having such a diligent, responsible, hard working maid who is always pleasant.'

No guest has ever told us anything negative about her and we love and cherish her.

Read the reviews prior to booking and was surprised at the low prices and near unanimous excellent reviews. I am I ever glad we booked. We've stayed in South Beach before and other places in Florida and this was one of our best trips.
Angela is awesome, the property is great, clean, inexpensive and located 2 blocks from the beach. The rooms are all air conditioned, with good size bathrooms, cable TV, microwaves, fridges, coffee machines, tables and chairs, ceiling fans and all arranged around a wonderful heated pool. The atmosphere is very quiet (the place is usually full of Canadians) and peaceful. There are a wide variety of rooms at reasonable prices (the two bedroom penthouse with King Beds, large kitchen, living room, additional sofa beds etc at $150 is a steal). It's close to restaurants, malls, the beach and everything else. This is not a student party dive, it really is a well kept gem. Parking is free.
Angela and her staff are friendly and welcoming, and VERY flexible on hours of check-in and check-out which makes leaving late for a cruise and then arriving early in the morning after one perfect. She even offers up towels to take to the beach with you off property. All in all, you will not find a better place to stay in Florida. I want to take my whole extended family here for a vacation as it can't be beat.

Booked two nights here after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Wasn't disappointed: the accomodation was roomy and very clean. Very convenient for the beach. For eating out, Lulu's Bait Shack was a short walk away, while there was a Quarterdeck a little further, but still walkable. There are so many horrible tower blocks of condos and superexpensive hotels going up. They put the beach in shade after 4pm! I hope that small family friendly motels like Angela's that offer good value and a friendly atmosphere can survive.

WOW! What a pleasant surprise! Angelas Beach Resort is a small hotel right next to the Fort Lauderdale's incredible beach and nestled in between the giant condo resorts and a few questionable low cost hotels. The 1 bedroom suite was my favorite - I felt like I was living at the beach and not in a hotel. Angela the owner adds a special dimension to your stay - she is a character and very friendly. The hotel is her project and "baby" and each time I return I have a bigger smile on my face.

Just booked my 3rd visit this year to Lovely Fort lauderdale. I have been travelling here frequently for several years now and honestly- I haven't found anywhere else that combines the value, cleanliness, hospitality, service and personality offered by Angela's Resort.- and a beachside location to boot!! There is no place I would rather stay. For the last few years I have been a regular guest at Angela's, always booking a basic room. This past July 2006 I splurged (off season rates!) and stayed in an apartment suite. What a treat! You can't go wrong here- and if you really want to live large, try the penthouse- I checked it out- it's huge!! Plus the pool is clean and there are even gas grills if you want to BBQ.

Stay here - you'll be glad you did!
