“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We stayed here one night pre-cruise. Located 1.5 blocks from beach. We had a king studio on second floor, rooms just as appear in the pictures. Very clean. Check in quick and easy. Room had refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, wineglasses, room safe, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, soap/shampoo in the shower. We did not use the pool or spa. Nice walk to CVS Pharmacy for supplies and Casablanca Cafe for dinner (would have been nicer if it hadn't been raining!). As others have noted, our cab driver was not familiar with the hotel location; have address with you for them to enter into GPS. Woud stay here again. You do have to carry bags up stairs yourself, should request first floor if that is a problem for you.

I hate to say it but I wasn't as impressed with the Aqua as other reviewers have been. Generally I didn't come away thinking - wow, I'll definitely return here.

The bed was amazingly comfortable - probably the best hotel bed I've experienced but that's where the praise stops.

It's nice to be 2 blocks from north beach and right next door to a car rental office. The small retro resort is nicely done however somewhat basic in its amenities, especially the lack of toiletries. I didn't experience any of the customer service other travellers have raved about, in fact management was pretty laissez-faire. The rooms are quiet but as someone else mentioned, you have to choose between privacy or sunlight. There's not much choice for decent food in walking distance - I struggled to find somewhere to have breakfast. The closest entertainment section on the beach is a 10/15 min stroll and is pretty touristy and expensive.

In hindsight I'd wished I'd either spent a bit more and stayed at The Four Pillars on the waterways again, or went the other end of the luxury scale and found a Hampton Inn near the port or airport.

Sorry The Aqua, you have a lovely place but need to offer a bit more boutique luxury to warrant the boutique price.

The photos on the web site do not do these rooms justice! we stayed in a Deluxe studio with 2 queens what a fantastic room, spacious, modern, clean, well presented. A kitchen and bathroom that were contemporary with good facilities. Very comfortable beds. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel was well placed to the beach and restaurants within walking distance. Short drive to the Galleria Mall. We stayed only one night before flying home but we would defiantly stay in this hotel again or in one of the group hotels. Go on book it.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of day during our honeymoon in Florida and the Caribbean. We found the hotel to be conveniently located close to the beach and with easy and complementary parking next to the hotel. Our room (a studio apartment with a bedroom and a living room with a fully equipped kitchen) was very spacious and clean with a fun surf style decor as seen on the photoes. It had a large balcony, facing the road and buildings outside. The hotel offers rusty but nice rental bikes, that are cheaper than the ones found on the beach. Experiencing FL by bike, including its many canals and Los Olas Boulevard, is highly recommendable. All in all a nice and pleasant stay at this fresh hotel.

Room Tip: The studio suites are very spacious and easily fits four persons (a sleeping sofa is provided), and...

We chose the Aqua because it was in a location we were familiar with. Six years ago we stayed at this hotel (then called Angela's Beach Resort) while visiting for a family wedding. At the time we were just an engaged couple about to be married and loved the place so much my husband and I chose to return to Angela's for our honeymoon! We vowed to come back! Now 6 years later we were planning our first vacation. It was an easy decision for us to stay at Aqua!
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by Maggie! She is absolutely amazing and made us feel welcomed right off the bat. My 5 year old son fell in love with her.
The rooms had been updated since our last visit and done very nicely with fun beachy decor.
I have nothing bad to say about our stay at Aqua. It was truly an amazing stay. We will be back!

My wife and I just got back from our spring break stay at The Aqua Hotel. We've never been to Fort Lauderdale and never to Florida during spring break. Had our trepidations. We're old - relatively speaking - but had to get into the sun after a long, dark winter in North Idaho. Took a redeye - awful - landed and rented a car, drove to The Aqua. Very easily found using our phone's GPS, met Stephanie in the office. She arranged to get our room ready ASAP while we went to breakfast. (Our reservation did not begin until 3:00 p.m. and we were there at about 10:00 a.m.). We drove around and got the lay of the land, came back and found our room wasn't ready... so she gave us an upgrade! I've never dealt with a management so willing to accommodate and impress! This set the tone for the week.
Loved the pool and watching the sweet children at play. The room was quiet and clean and we were on the first floor, pool side. Here's some tips: rent a car - the best shops and restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are generally too far to walk. Visit Los Olas Drive - nice place. Bring beach towels - hotel towels are for poolside only. Use your flip-flops inside and out. The tile floors can get a bit gritty. We walked along the A1A beachside sidewalk every morning, early, and it was refreshing!
We couldn't be happier with our time at The Aqua - great people, great atmosphere, great, relaxing time.
