booked this motel a year ago on recommendations of trip advisor members. Knew it would be basic, but Angie and Reggie as hosts sounded brilliant. New owners took over August last year, DO NOT expect service,(if any) like previous owners,. i am not sure what a boutique motel is, my impression iof Angelas is a very tired tatty 1960s motel well past its sell by date. The new owner Maggie, proudly told me she had 4 hotels, I think the land the motel sits on (opposite Trumps) is far more important than her guests. I did not expect luxury but I could have done much better for my 132 dollars a night! The builders at
trump hotel told us they will be there for another year at least. The noise, dust etc, etc does not help! Strongly suggest you shop around for alternative accommodation, Shame, would love to have met Angie and Reggie.

Had a terrific time! The penthouse apartment was not only beautiful, but clean and efficient! All the comforts of home, plus a 2 minute walk to the beach! Our 3 yr.old had a blast, and had her own bathroom and bedroom to herself. Maggie, the owner, couldn't be more accomodating. She has a way to make all her guests feel special, and offers advice on how to get around, restaurants, etc., whenever needed. She even tried to get us a car rental at the busiest time of year (Christmas/New Year's)! We would absolutely return, and absolutely rent the penthouse again - it was very reasonable! Thanks, Maggie, and Happy New Year! The Pappalardo Family - Brooklyn, NY

  • Liked — Pretty much everything was terrific!
  • Disliked — That public transportation (bus, specifically), was only available to main st. on weekend

I selected Angela's because of its positive Tripadvisor reviews. I don't agree with the rave reviews... Our stay was fine, but not outstanding. It's a budget, no frills place and because of the price, I have no complaints, but I wanted a different experience and next time I will stay at a different hotel.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. Hoewever, they're not always immediately available. I arrived at night and I had to wait for someone to come to the motel to check me in -- it was only 5 -10 minutes, but still... Also, a few of us stayed in the penthouse together, arriving at all different times. At a standard hotel, we could have just left a key / name at the front desk. Instead, someone had to be sure to be in the room to greet the arriving person. (In fairness, we didn't ask, but as the office was vacant at night, we didn't want the hassle).

The welcome book notes there is no cleaning service on Sunday and holidays. However, we we had no service on Saturday. Although older, I did feel the penthouse was definitely clean and we did not see one bug during our stay. Again, although clean, one of the tubs in the bathroom was less than inviting and is in need of replacement.

There was free wireless, which worked well. Also, the penthouse was spacious and contained a full size dining table, living room, kitchen and washer / dryer.

Other pros: It is a block from the beach and you can walk to many places within 10-15 minutes. We also had no trouble hailing taxis. Within this 10-15 minute period, there is a 24 hour Primanti Brothers (pizza and sandwiches) along with a convenience store and misc bars and restaurants; Beach Place, which is a mall of chain restaurants and bars (Hooters, Lulu's, etc); Casablanca - a standalone restaurant / bar (highly recommend). In addition, the pricier hotel Atlantic has a restaurant and ther is a small diner in a nearby motel available within a block or two.

As an FYI it was approx $22 to the airport via taxi.

All in all, next time I am in Fort Lauderdale, I will stay elsewhere, but it wasn't a bad experience.

We stayed here last year, same time (Nov.). We thought by now that Trump would have been done with his construction across the street, but it had actually reached a fever pitch! And they start at 7 a.m.
What was charming last year, when there actually was an Angela front and center, is now tired and run down. The new owners have not put a nickel into this place and it shows. And in the 4 days we were there, the maid appeared once.
Find someplace else.

  • Liked — Lots of space and the beach down the block.
  • Disliked — It needs complete renovation.

We just got back from staying 2 nights at Angela's. I chose this resort mainly based on the outstanding reviews and also, it was one of the only reasonable places for the Labor Day weekend. I originally booked a one bedroom "suite", then changed to the "hotel room", but when we arrived much earlier than the stated check in time, the one bedroom which was on the first floor was ready and my husband did not want to carry luggage up the flight of stairs so we switched again - no problem! First, do not consider staying here if you need a place that is very modern and looks like a typical hotel/motel room. Do stay here if you want a spotlessly clean room with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The one bedroom could easily have slept 6. It had a kitchen, living room, dining area and bedroom. Yes the tub did have a few rust stains - but there were more than enough towels, the water pressure was great, plenty of hot water and CLEAN. The pool was sparkling clean, warm and open whenever you wanted, with plenty of place to sit and relax - better by far than the much more modern, resort we stayed at in Key Largo. There is a very short (1 1/2 block) walk to the beach and Angela's supplies beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for your use. Michael, who checked us in was great - he recommended several places to eat and we followed his recommendation and had a terrific dinner at Casablanca's Cafe.
Again, this is not the Ritz - but it is very homey - and VERY clean - i dont know what bugs the other reviewer was talking about - and if they did see a bug or two - again, you are in Florida, there are bugs. The only possible negatives are the construction going on - we did not hear them start in the morning, but when the wind started blowing and we were walking back from the beach, the dust was a bit much. Also, I am still wondering what the actual price of the room ended up being - Michael told us one thing, but Maggie's receipt says another - I am sure that it will be resolved because they are just very nice people. We checked in way before the "official" check in time and when we were checking out, Maggie told us to take our time, no rush - you are not going to have that in your "Ritzy" resort!!
