I selected Angela's because of its positive Tripadvisor reviews. I don't agree with the rave reviews... Our stay was fine, but not outstanding. It's a budget, no frills place and because of the price, I have no complaints, but I wanted a different experience and next time I will stay at a different hotel.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. Hoewever, they're not always immediately available. I arrived at night and I had to wait for someone to come to the motel to check me in -- it was only 5 -10 minutes, but still... Also, a few of us stayed in the penthouse together, arriving at all different times. At a standard hotel, we could have just left a key / name at the front desk. Instead, someone had to be sure to be in the room to greet the arriving person. (In fairness, we didn't ask, but as the office was vacant at night, we didn't want the hassle).
The welcome book notes there is no cleaning service on Sunday and holidays. However, we we had no service on Saturday. Although older, I did feel the penthouse was definitely clean and we did not see one bug during our stay. Again, although clean, one of the tubs in the bathroom was less than inviting and is in need of replacement.
There was free wireless, which worked well. Also, the penthouse was spacious and contained a full size dining table, living room, kitchen and washer / dryer.
Other pros: It is a block from the beach and you can walk to many places within 10-15 minutes. We also had no trouble hailing taxis. Within this 10-15 minute period, there is a 24 hour Primanti Brothers (pizza and sandwiches) along with a convenience store and misc bars and restaurants; Beach Place, which is a mall of chain restaurants and bars (Hooters, Lulu's, etc); Casablanca - a standalone restaurant / bar (highly recommend). In addition, the pricier hotel Atlantic has a restaurant and ther is a small diner in a nearby motel available within a block or two.
As an FYI it was approx $22 to the airport via taxi.
All in all, next time I am in Fort Lauderdale, I will stay elsewhere, but it wasn't a bad experience.
