I recently stayed at the Granada Inn, while attending a meeting in Fort Lauderdale. The host, Tom (I dont recall his last name) was gracious enough to try to accomodate my late arrival by leaving a key but unfortunately the box was jammed and I had to keep calling him on his cell to finally get into my room. Like other reviewers noted, the AC unit in my room was very loud and I didnt sleep well the first night. The next night I just opened the windows and depended on the ceiling fan, thank god it was February and not too warm. There was no written info in the room as to when breakfast would be available and nothing to help me navigate the city or find a decent restaurant, though Tom did recommend a nice option for my late dinner the first night. The decor was kind of a mishmash, but the basics were there. I did appreciate the refrigerator in the room stocked with 2 bottles of water and 2 sodas. The bed was quite comfortable with a good firm mattress. There was a phone with free local calling. The set up is like an old 50s style motel, concrete structure with inside entry around a small pool and sitting area. Sort of cosy. The location is great just one block from the beach, and I found I could hop on the bus (the number 40 I think) to get to the Broward County convention center thus avoiding costly daily parking rates. Overall the Granada Inn served my needs. I never was able to be there for breakfast (my meetings always started at 8) so I can't comment on it but there was a nice bowl of fruit by the pool. If you can manage the AC issues and are pretty self sufficient it's a decent place, but for this rate it seems like you could do better.
