Well I was pleasently surprised! I searched for an inexpensive place near Fort Lauderdale beach for my son and I to stay for a few days and never expected to find such a hidden paradise. I felt more like a guest in a friend's home than a guest arriving at a hotel. My room was located on the first floor in a court yard with a swimming pool surrounded by tropical beach foiliage. The lighting around the courtyard was delightfully lit to add to the tropical atmosphere. My room was warm and inviting with brightly colored bedding and micely matching furniture. It was clean and like home! There was also a small fridge, toaster, microwave oven, and a full sized coffee maker located in my room. Anyone who knows that when you have kids, you have to travel on a budget and for me, that was a welcome sight. As far as location, we could not have been any closer to the beach. One block away and a short walk to lots of resturants and shopping. I come to Fort Lauderdale every year and this was the best trip we ever had there. So to all the staff of the Monte Carlo Resort and any one looking for a cozy little hide away, Thumbs way up.
We will be back again soon,
Carol and Keith

I have soo much to say I don't know where to begin..Maggie, you are the best!!!!!! I couldn't have had more fun than i did, staying at your resort.. This is the perfect, low key, resort in Ft. Lauderdale. The room we had was just perfect for what we needed. 4 guests in an efficancy room. We had a kitchen including a stove, a refridgerator, a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, 2 queen size beds, plus a couch that converts to pull out sleeper.. Can't get much better than that. Not to mention the grill right next to the heated pool.* Top Knotch ; ). The staff was over friendly. I honestly have no complaints, aside from the warm rainy weather the first 2 days we were there, but I'm from Chicago, so the weather was perfect to me. We were there for 8 great days thanx to the kind and dedicated staff Maggie has working there. Big ups to the crew...ohh yeah, i'm definitly coming back Maggie. see ya soon.. -DON LOPEZ - CHICAGO

Beware of making reservations for this hotel. We made reservations for the Monte Carlo but upon arriving were told byt the manager that there were no rooms here and we would be staying at a complete different hotel, the Flying Cloud. Upon arriving to the Flying Cloud we were told that we would be staying at ANOTHER hotel, the Florida Beach.

I've filed a complaint with the BBB for this bait & switch. I had specifically booked a room at the Monte Carlo because of the great reviews I had read. Our room at the Florida Beach was horrendous and dirty, much like some of the reviews state.

We booked a six day stay at the Monte Carlo. When we arrived, the double queen room that we had reserved was not available. We were put into a room with one king bed and a horribly uncomfortable fold-out couch. Additionally, we were required to place a $225 cash deposit on the room, $50 of which the hotel would keep for "extra cleaning". We were not notified of this until we were checking in.

On the third day, we had a very loud knock on the door asking why we had not checked out yet. The hotel had not reserved the room for us for the complete 6 day stay! To make it worse, they refused to accomodate us at all. The booking website we used to reserve and pre-pay for the room tried to intervene and help us by placing several calls to the hotel manager. We ended up spending most of one day of our vacation finding and moving to another hotel.

This is not a place to stay in Fort Lauderdale. The staff was very unprofressional and unwilling to correct their mistakes. The hotel is run down. Our room WAS NOT cleaned during the entire three days we were there. If we wanted fresh towels, we had to put our dirty towels outside of the door before clean towels would be delivered. There was sand on the table in the room and on the couch. Many of the room's lights did not work. There was no remote control for the TV. There was no alarm clock. There is
not a person at the front desk regularly.

I strongly urge you to consider other places to stay. There are so many places close to this hotel that offer the same or similar amenities. You don't want to put yourself into a bad situation in Fort Lauderdale. Find a better place!

  • Liked — Convenient to the beach, but so are the other dozens of hotels in this area.
  • Disliked — Very unprofessional staff and unsanitary conditions of the hotel

Monte Carlo Resort is a MUST if traveling to Ft. Lauderdale. The best part about this place is the comfortable atmosphere and the owners and staff. They were always available and eager to help when we needed their assistance. The resort was very clean and I felt as if they really wanted all of us to have a good time. There was a variety of age groups while we were there but we all seemed to become
part of a big family by the time we had left. Maggie and Sue ensured that we would all have a good time and did an awesome job at accomodating to the age differences. We flew down and Maggie, the owner, was so awesome in making arrangements for our shuttle to and from the airport. The resort is an a great location and just being with one other friend, I felt safe my entire vacation! All in all we had a great time and the next time we make a trip to Florida we will be sure to contact Maggie, as she has more than one resort. We met amazing people at the resort and we have all continued to remain friends, even after Spring Break!

MONTE CARLO IS THE BEST!!
