I live in the midwest and when I head for Florida I want only the best and the Best is what the Grand Resort offers. Their rooms are spacious, clean and terrific. Their grounds are immaculate and beautiful. Their staff is the most professional and friendliest of any resort that I have ever stayed. The staff is ALWAYS thinking about their guests which is really rather uncommon in Ft. Lauderdale. I have stayed there several times and it just keeps getting better and better. It is geting so difficult to find a place to stay where everything seems to be about the guest rather than the resort itself. If you want to be alone, that's fine or if you want to intermingle with the other guests, that too is fine. Their grounds are so beautiful and lush. They keep up with everything. Their morning breakfasts are served at a great time for a couple of hours so you don't have to rush to get their. They have computers in the general areas so that guests can check their emails which is a big plus. My room was spacious and extremely clean with plenty of amenities. It is also very close to the beach, actually just a couple of blocks. I have recommended this resort to many of my friends.
Their front office staff is the finest of any resort I have ever stayed.

I stayed at the Grand for three nights in July 2005 with two friends. We were given a gorgeous 1 room suite that had a living room with a pullout couch, a full sized dining table, a very nice, large kitchen, and a gorgeous bedroom. The furniture and overall style of the hotel were classic, modern, and definitely upscale. We enjoyed the swimming pool and huge jacuzzi, and the landscaping around the property was very well done. The only negative facet we found was that the hotel guests, for the most part, were older (40s and above), while we were looking to meet people our own age (mid 20s). Besides that, however, we had a wonderful time at the hotel and would not hesitate to stay again.

I would stay here again. What you are paying for is the privilege to let your hair down at a G&L resort. This place (along with all of the alternative lodging) is about 8 miles from the "strip" of alternative bars. Be prepared to shell out some cab fare...about $20 each way. Some of the cabs will rip you off. You really should get a map and tell them exactly the way you want to go. As to the property itself, very nice. I stayed in a suite. It was oversized, like it was an older 1 bedroom apt. with a wall knocked out, which I believe that it was. Nice touches inside...tile floors, some marble, high count sheets, Bose radio, etc. Mini Bar that was REASONABLE (a change). Property has 2 pools. The suites are a bit dark. The web site I don't think really reflects what the property looks like. It makes it look lush and exotic, which it isn't. Envision the apartment complex on Melrose Place. THAT is what this place looks like. They do have a business center (sorta) and a spa (again, sorta) in that it gives you pedicures and manicures. There is nothing really to do here but lay out in the sun. Nothing really in the area to do either. Be prepared to drive whereever you go or take a cab. Good place to sleep, VERY well maintained, VERY clean. Only drawback is its distance from the bars. Like I said, it is LONNNNG way to them. Staff was helpful. Was very impressed at the way it was maintained. Day of a tropical storm the minute the sun came out they were outside immediately cleaning up a HUGE mess of limbs, debris etc. Good staff.

Just returned from a long weekend stay at the Grand Resort and Spa and loved every minute of it.

Finding the resort was easy, as it’s only a couple of blocks off A1A. The Grand seems to have plenty of parking for guests. We buzzed and entered a very nice pool area and went to the office. We had arrived earlier than expected, and did not expect our room to be ready, but it was.

The staff here is wonderful. After giving our name and letting them know that we were early, Mark looked up our room and then went to check to make sure it was ready. When he returned he let us know that the room was ready and gave us a tour of the resort and showed us around the room. You are also given a placard to place on the dash of your car so they know you are a guest of the resort. In addition to Mark, Casey and Herb were also outstanding in making us feel welcome when we checked in.

Our room was a deluxe junior suite located poolside. The room was clean and very comfortable with many nice touches. The room had a pantry\wet bar area with a full size refrigerator and microwave. Wine glasses, coffee maker and cups, and plastic cups for poolside were provided. The fridge was stocked with some gourmet items for snacking (for a reasonable charge) along with sodas, water, beer and other beverages.
There was a nice pub style table and chairs located in front of a large window which looked out onto the pool. In addition to a very comfy king bed, there was also a very comfortable leather chair in the room. Nice flat screen tv with a vcr, dvd combo on a large dresser. Large walk in closet with plenty of hanging space, as well as several shelves for storage. There were also 2 robes and an iron and ironing board.
The bath, while a bit small was very nice. There was a nice large walk in shower, with great water pressure. There is also a long shelf that ran along one wall for keeping toiletries.

The bedding was top quality. There was a very nice clock radio with a CD player. All the light fixtures and lamps were brushed stainless, and all furnishing were dark wood with brushed stainless knobs. Tiled floors added to the coolness of the room. There was also a long leather bench at the end of the bed. Very comfortable and stylish rooms here! If the other rooms and suites here are like this, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in any of them.

The resort itself is large put very nicely laid out. The pool was a nice size and surrounded by 2 floors of rooms. There are plenty of tables and chairs surrounding the pool. Also located in this area are the office, workout room and club room. One the roof of the office is a very nice sundeck with plenty of chairs. The Club room was used for the continental breakfast set-up in the mornings. There was nice selection of breakfast items as well as coffee and juice. There are also to computers set up in here for guest use. Wireless access is also available here. We had luck using it in our room and poolside, but I did hear others say they weren’t able to connect from their rooms. The gym was small, but contained enough equipment for a good workout.

Past the office are another block of rooms located in a three story building. Some of these rooms had private balconies. This area also has a large Jacuzzi and many more chairs for sunning. A large fountain is the centerpiece here. There is also a nice walking path with lots of plants and places to sit and relax. There is also a guest laundry in the back area.

The Spa is located in another building in the rear of the resort. Many great spa offerings here and all were reasonably priced. Everything from facials, full body wraps to massages. We took advantage of one of the massage choices and it was great. The staff here is also wonderful. When we return we will be sure to take advantage of more spa services.

We were very pleased with our choice of the Grand Resort and Spa. There are many choices for the gay community in Fort Lauderdale. Since I haven’t stayed at the others, I will have to say we were very pleased. We travel a great deal and have stayed at many fine places and the Grand Resort and Spa are right at the top. Everything from the staff to the rooms, and cleanliness was top notch.
On this trip I forgot to take along my camera. I normally would take pictures of the room and resort to post with my review. I can honestly say that what you see on the website for the Grand Resort and Spa is what you get!
