Just returned from a long weekend stay at the Grand Resort and Spa and loved every minute of it.
Finding the resort was easy, as it’s only a couple of blocks off A1A. The Grand seems to have plenty of parking for guests. We buzzed and entered a very nice pool area and went to the office. We had arrived earlier than expected, and did not expect our room to be ready, but it was.
The staff here is wonderful. After giving our name and letting them know that we were early, Mark looked up our room and then went to check to make sure it was ready. When he returned he let us know that the room was ready and gave us a tour of the resort and showed us around the room. You are also given a placard to place on the dash of your car so they know you are a guest of the resort. In addition to Mark, Casey and Herb were also outstanding in making us feel welcome when we checked in.
Our room was a deluxe junior suite located poolside. The room was clean and very comfortable with many nice touches. The room had a pantry\wet bar area with a full size refrigerator and microwave. Wine glasses, coffee maker and cups, and plastic cups for poolside were provided. The fridge was stocked with some gourmet items for snacking (for a reasonable charge) along with sodas, water, beer and other beverages.
There was a nice pub style table and chairs located in front of a large window which looked out onto the pool. In addition to a very comfy king bed, there was also a very comfortable leather chair in the room. Nice flat screen tv with a vcr, dvd combo on a large dresser. Large walk in closet with plenty of hanging space, as well as several shelves for storage. There were also 2 robes and an iron and ironing board.
The bath, while a bit small was very nice. There was a nice large walk in shower, with great water pressure. There is also a long shelf that ran along one wall for keeping toiletries.
The bedding was top quality. There was a very nice clock radio with a CD player. All the light fixtures and lamps were brushed stainless, and all furnishing were dark wood with brushed stainless knobs. Tiled floors added to the coolness of the room. There was also a long leather bench at the end of the bed. Very comfortable and stylish rooms here! If the other rooms and suites here are like this, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in any of them.
The resort itself is large put very nicely laid out. The pool was a nice size and surrounded by 2 floors of rooms. There are plenty of tables and chairs surrounding the pool. Also located in this area are the office, workout room and club room. One the roof of the office is a very nice sundeck with plenty of chairs. The Club room was used for the continental breakfast set-up in the mornings. There was nice selection of breakfast items as well as coffee and juice. There are also to computers set up in here for guest use. Wireless access is also available here. We had luck using it in our room and poolside, but I did hear others say they weren’t able to connect from their rooms. The gym was small, but contained enough equipment for a good workout.
Past the office are another block of rooms located in a three story building. Some of these rooms had private balconies. This area also has a large Jacuzzi and many more chairs for sunning. A large fountain is the centerpiece here. There is also a nice walking path with lots of plants and places to sit and relax. There is also a guest laundry in the back area.
The Spa is located in another building in the rear of the resort. Many great spa offerings here and all were reasonably priced. Everything from facials, full body wraps to massages. We took advantage of one of the massage choices and it was great. The staff here is also wonderful. When we return we will be sure to take advantage of more spa services.
We were very pleased with our choice of the Grand Resort and Spa. There are many choices for the gay community in Fort Lauderdale. Since I haven’t stayed at the others, I will have to say we were very pleased. We travel a great deal and have stayed at many fine places and the Grand Resort and Spa are right at the top. Everything from the staff to the rooms, and cleanliness was top notch.
On this trip I forgot to take along my camera. I normally would take pictures of the room and resort to post with my review. I can honestly say that what you see on the website for the Grand Resort and Spa is what you get!
