My partner and I booked this Hotel, not knowing what really to expect, but knew from their website and from this Trip Advisor site that it would be good. We did not realize how good - all I can say is the Staff, Accomodation, Other Guests, Facilities, Breakfast by the pool in the mornings, Poolside drinks at the weekends and the massages - Jim - incredible. We have found our own little piece of heaven and will be back within the next 12 months. It surpassed every expectation we had, and there was alot. We ended up back at the hotel early enough on the last few nights, as there was always people to chat with over a few beers either at the pool or jacuzzi. You could walk through the secured doors at the beginning of your stay and not leave, if that is what you wanted...

Amazing, relaxing and the most friendly holiday I have ever had - roll on the next trip!!

Thanks to Herb and all his staff for a memorable and wonderful vacation. See you next year (if not before !)

We stayed at the Grand Resort and found it to be excellent. It was 2 blocks away from the beach, a short 5 minute walk. There are 2 buildings with the front building having the pool area and the rear building having a hot tub. The rear building is quieter than the front. The property is very well maintained and all the staff are pleasant and helpful. We had a one bedroom suite in the rear building, which was well furnished. One of us did have a message at the Spa and that too was very good. We would definitely return to the property.

Hotel looks very outdated on the outside, but was totally remodeled and quite trendy inside. Staff was friendly. Room had great, large high-def flat screen tv, which was nice, along with a small balcony over their marina/pool. The remodeled bath was a disappointment as it was only a small shower stall, with a terrible, low flow handheld showerhead. It would move and slip when you tried to keep it in the holder.

I ate poolside and it was fantastic. Had a turkey sandwich with pancetta and a green salad. The highlight was the coconut mojito--amazing. Another reviewer thought they were bringing in food, but I watched the chef cook it.

Location is good--I took about a 2 mile walk to the ocean. Too cold and windy in March, though, for beach fun.

All in all, a good value if you will only be there a night or two. But the shower needs improvement--I wouldn't stay there long for that reason. And wouldn't bring kids--the place is all white and quiet/trendy. It's a Hilton property but they don't have any signage to the effect.

  • Liked — fancy, flat screen tv with HDTV
  • Disliked — awful shower head and shower

From the attentive staff, to the layout of the property...The Grand Resort surpassed our expectations in every way. Upon our check-in, Peter Mehas gave us a tour of the property before showing us to our poolside jr. suite. Just like the rest of the property, our room was impressively clean, and we had every ammenity that we could possibly need. The design of the property allows guests to have total privacy, just as easily as it allows for socializing and mingling with other guests. The entire staff was very upbeat and always available for advise and suggestions about the area (including several fantastic restaurant recommendations). The restricted access into the resort was one of many examples of the great attention to detail that is available when it comes to guests' safety and comfort.

  • Liked — The wonderful staff.
  • Disliked — Having to check-out.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL for one week in March 2008. Hotel staff is extremely friendly and courteous, and worked hard to make our stay a pleasurable one. The property appears somewhat outdated, but looks very charming and inviting in comparison with the ugly new highrise near Fort Lauderdale's beachfront. Moreover, the resort is very well maintained and spotless clean.
The clientele consists mostly of professional guys in their mid-thirties to mid-fifties, primarily couples and groups, almost exclusively from the US (we were the only European guests at the time of our stay). The breakfast buffet, the happy hour gatherings and the jacuzzi seem to serve as meeting points for social interaction with other guests.
The Grand Resort is not (and does not pretend to be) the vibrant hotspot of Fort Lauderdale's gay scene, but offers a relaxed "men-only" atmosphere and comfortable accomodation for the discerning gay traveller wishing to enjoy Fort Lauderdale's beaches and nightlife.
