This was our fourth stay at this hotel and as usual we enjoyed the property, staff, and atmosphere. The hotel is located in the center of Ft. Lauderdale in a nice residential neighborhood called Victoria Park. From here you can walk (about 10-15 minutes) to the main shopping/restaurant street of Las Olas Boulevard. The beach is less than a 10 minute drive but parking can be a little bit of a hassle, so if the beach is a high priority for you, this hotel may not be the right choice for you. There are many hotels near the beach including the Flamingo, Inn Amongst the Flowers, another Ft. Lauderdale favorite of ours.
Pineapple Point is spread out over five or six small buildings. We have stayed in a different room each time and prefer the rooms in the back because they are in new buildings, and in general have larger bathrooms. All the rooms are nice and comfortable with pastel colors and a Caribbean décor. In fact, the look of the hotel could easily pass as a Key West resort.
The amenities of the hotel are great and include two pools, two Jacuzzis, a small gym, living room, sun porch, and a cozy den with a computer for guest use. The basic breakfast is great. Snacks are available all day, and there is wine and beer for happy hour. Water bottles are in your room refrigerator and pool side along with lemonade. We also enjoy using the hotel bikes to go for rides around the area. All these amenities are complimentary.
A real standout at Pineapple Point is the staff. They are very friendly and go out of their way to help you out and make your stay special. They even provided water for our bike rides and are always asking if you need anything.
Our only minor compliant is that there are so many trees on the property, that while creating a lush tropical environment, they also can create many light challenged rooms. This also means at the height of winter, sun at the pool is limited as the day goes on and prime lounge chairs are claimed early on busy days.
Pineapple Point is one of the larger Ft. Lauderdale gay guesthouses and is a fun place to stay. It has many repeat customers so as time goes on, don’t be surprised to run into some familiar faces. The hotel is also large enough to have a diverse group of guests with couples in their 30s and 40s appearing to be the largest group.
