The Royal Palms is a great small hotel! The grounds and pool are immaculate and the attention to detail by the staff is impeccable.

The rooms are very nice and incredibly clean! Upon check-in a personal, hand-written note is waiting in the room thanking you for choosing to stay at the Royal Palms.

While not the closest resort to the beach, it is a very "walkable" 2 blocks. Free beach chairs, towels and sun block are available for use.

The entire staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this resort and KNOW that I will stay there upon a return trip to Ft. Lauderdale. I have stayed at other similar resorts in Ft. Lauderdale and this one is tops!

  • Liked — Attention to detail, cleanliness, comfort
  • Disliked — Not the closest resort to the beach, but close enough.

This was my partners and my first time staying at the Royal Palms. We decided to go away for the 4th of July weekend on the 3rd and found availability at the RP. Overall it was a nice weekend, some minor hiccups at the resort and they deserve another chance. Which we will give them on a future visit.

Positive Comments:

1. Room was very neat, clean and well appointed. The room had been recently updated and learned from the RP employee on duty, that all of the rooms were in the process of receiving upgrades in order to meet the "green hotel" standards.

2. The resort grounds, pool and hot tub were well maintained and it was enjoyable to spend time laying in the sun, relaxing on a pool float, or having the jets of the hot tub massage your body.

3. Everyone, RP employees and other guests were very friendly and offered a very nice mix of people.

4. The drinks that were offered poolside were very nice and enjoyable. However, a happy hour utilizing there very nice bar area (which is very under utilized) would have been more appealing and give the guests another opportunity to socialize.

Negative Comments:

1. The "breakfast" was a bit to be desired. The pre-packaged muffins you can find at any gas station, along with the "chilled" plastic wrapped english muffins and bagels were not very appetizing.

2. The compressor to the cooler that they normally keep beverages, dairy products etc.. broke earlier in the week and no effort appeared to have been made for a "back up" cooler or small refrigerator to replace it. The plan that was in effect was to cut way back on product offering, place what items were available in the only sink in the kitchen and put ice over them. Not very appealing nor desirable.

3. The lush landscaped grounds, were wonderful to look at. However, they also offered a breeding ground for mosquitos. A spraying program to assist in keeping the mosquito population under control seems to be a necessity.

This is my third stay at RPR. I have enjoyed each and every stay. I was here to do nothing for my birthday and I did exactly that. The staff are very friendly people. Always willing to help and always smiling. They left a card and a nice box of cookies when they found out it was my birthday (they all signed it too!).

The room is always super clean, well lit, with soothing music when you first walk in. I always completely relax when I enter.
The pool and spa are surrounded by palms and orchids. It is such a relaxing place and usually you meet very nice people who are staying there.

The continental breakfast is more than enough (and trust me I can eat), the afternoon drinks are great, and the smooth jazz adds to the relaxing atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions about the area. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. My room was spotless, including the bathroom! Luxurious linens.
Nice variety for a continental breakfast. Frozen drinks served poolside in the afternoon.
A computer room for personal needs like flight information, printing boarding passes...
I highly recommend the Royal Palms Resort in Ft. Lauderdale. And am looking forward to my next stay with them.

My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights and were expecting the best of the best. We left feeling like we stayed at an average Holiday Inn. First off, when we booked (4 months in advance), we were told there was only 1 room available. When we arrived, we were the ONLY guests staying there! The resort was almost entirely empty the entire time we stayed. The decor of the room was so dated!!!! When I stepped into the hot tub, I was scalded--thats how hot it was! The tub was then closed for several days. We were told it was fixed, but when my partner stepped in, he too was scalded and it was closed again. The staff apologized both times, but we were hurt!!! The breakfast was very average. There was no cocktail hour, just a frozen icy drink each day around 2pm which was too sweet.
We would not return here under any circumstance.
