This was my partners and my first time staying at the Royal Palms. We decided to go away for the 4th of July weekend on the 3rd and found availability at the RP. Overall it was a nice weekend, some minor hiccups at the resort and they deserve another chance. Which we will give them on a future visit.
Positive Comments:
1. Room was very neat, clean and well appointed. The room had been recently updated and learned from the RP employee on duty, that all of the rooms were in the process of receiving upgrades in order to meet the "green hotel" standards.
2. The resort grounds, pool and hot tub were well maintained and it was enjoyable to spend time laying in the sun, relaxing on a pool float, or having the jets of the hot tub massage your body.
3. Everyone, RP employees and other guests were very friendly and offered a very nice mix of people.
4. The drinks that were offered poolside were very nice and enjoyable. However, a happy hour utilizing there very nice bar area (which is very under utilized) would have been more appealing and give the guests another opportunity to socialize.
Negative Comments:
1. The "breakfast" was a bit to be desired. The pre-packaged muffins you can find at any gas station, along with the "chilled" plastic wrapped english muffins and bagels were not very appetizing.
2. The compressor to the cooler that they normally keep beverages, dairy products etc.. broke earlier in the week and no effort appeared to have been made for a "back up" cooler or small refrigerator to replace it. The plan that was in effect was to cut way back on product offering, place what items were available in the only sink in the kitchen and put ice over them. Not very appealing nor desirable.
3. The lush landscaped grounds, were wonderful to look at. However, they also offered a breeding ground for mosquitos. A spraying program to assist in keeping the mosquito population under control seems to be a necessity.
