We spent 3 days at Kira Mar and thoroughly enjoyed it. This place is great value compared to other accomodation in the area.
The hosts, Reggie and Nathalie, are very attentive. We had a small problem which was attented to in the most gracious and satisfactory way.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The place was very clean and functional (bathroom is dated but did the job). It was nice not to have any carpet in the apartment!
The pool and grill area are lovely. The setting nearby the canal is charming.
The location is great, in a quiet area but still not far from restaurants on Las Olas blvd and the beach.
Although we had a car we decided to try the walk to the beach. It was OK - a good 20 min - but coming back at midday under the scorching sun was not as pleasant... There are buses along the Las Olas Blvd, we didn't try them but I'm sure it is a good way to to travel along Las Olas if you are not motorized or don't want to walk.
I would come back to Kira Mar if I returned to Fort Lauderdale and certainly recommend it (my rating is in relation to the rate, sure there are some more upmarket places and services but the rates are also higher - Kira Mar is definitely good value)

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment for two days prior to a cruise. Everything was exactly as described. This place is a gem! Not much to look at when you pull up, but once in the beautiful pool courtyard with views of the intercoastal it's like stepping back in Florida time. Impeccably maintained and spotless.
We arrived on a very early flight, and the manager offered to let us change in the just vacated room and to leave our bags in the room's closet. Don't know how many "exclusive" hotels I've arrived at mid-afternoon only to be told the room's not ready, seems to happen everytime, no matter how desolate the lobby is. But the Kira-Mar offered up a convenient solution without even being asked. Double the service at check out, I was told we could stay as long as we wanted since the room wasn't rented that night. Again, it seems everytime I ask for a late check out, even at hotels where we're frequent guests, platinum members etc. the response is always the same-no way.
The staff was friendly, and offered numerous recomendations for local restaurans etc.
Really a great little hotel, we look forward to returning. Location is perfect too, though not really walking distance to the beach.

Have you have wanted to escape your life and get away from it all even for just a few days? Not be bothered by anyone and yet have wonderful people to talk to, a beautiful pool to relax in and have someone provide you with breakfast that you can eat by the pool or bring back to your comfortable clean room and just relax? If so, Kira-Mar is the place for you. My husband and I stayed here four days pre-cruise and found this to be the magical place for us. After reading some reviews that said this place was dated, I was a bit concerned but that turned out to be unnecessary.

Nathalie and Reggie are among the friendliest and helpful people we have ever met. Usually, when we stay pre-cruise we stay in one of the high rises, just for convenience and cannot wait to leave. At Kira-Mar it was difficult to leave as the clientele staying there were the nicest people you could ask to be around. All friendly, but not "in your face". We were actually sad to leave Kira-Mar even though we had a wonderful cruise ahead of us.

We look forward to returning and will recommend this to our family and friends for all their needs.

I would really would like to keep this place a secret for ourselves, but with all the hard work that these two property owners do, that would be selfish. They keep the grounds and the rooms spotless and are the nicest people you could meet., and that is why you read that comment on every review.

We were sad upon leaving last Sept '07 as we loved our stay @ Kira-Mar. Very Reasonable Rates, Beautiful property, Nice Suites- Ours had 1 BR, LR, Dining Area (for2) & usable small Kitchen which we used to cook Blueberry Pancakes for breakfast & for Lunch the 22lb. KingFish we caught Deepsea fishing on a charter boat just nearby. It was so enjoyable relaxing on the floats in the pool. Very close to the beach (3-5 min ride). Hotel's location is ideal. Just off Las Olas it was great (and the bed was very comfortable) especially after a night out! Reggie & Nathalie are really great Hosts, they really go the extra mile to accomodate you whether it's check-in/out, Immaculate Rooms, grounds & Pool. I called them last week because the Website said they were all booked & as I was afraid people are starting to discover this hidden gem. To my surprise Nathalie had one opening on our dates so we are going back in two days. Goodbye Cold NYC in winter -Hello KIRA-MAR!! We'll write our next review upon our return.
