We booked at the Kira-Mar having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. We also normally stay at big/chain hotels, but deciced to give this a try, and were pleased we did.

Although the property looks a little dated (it's 'old style' compared to the new builds which have gone up around Ft Lauderdale), it was nonetheless comfortable and provided a good home from home.

We stayed in a one bedroom unit (#7), which had a good king sized bed, a lounge with sofa and dining table, a small (but suffiiently well-equipped) kitchen and an ensuite bathroom. The bathroom suite was dated and the tub small, but it did the job.. it almost seems picky to complain about it. For the price, and the for the general convenience, we found the place very comfortable. Room was cleaned / serviced daily (and the place was clean). The only problem we had (a faulty air conditioning unit) was quickly resolved, with no fuss whatsoever.

The pool was very nice; clean and warm.

We spent two half days by the pool; if more than a few people decide to do the same thing, the area round the pool may get a little crowded; so I'd say it's not the place for people who want to spend a lot of time lying by the pool.

We stayed at the Kira Mar for 2 nights before leaving for Buenos Aires. It wa perfect for us in that it was in an excellant location, close by Las Olas Blvd and the ocean in a safe area.

The rooms are good sized with a kitchenette, 2 TV's and very very clean. The area is quiet and there is a pool.

Reggie and Nathalie are very helpful and do their best to make sure you have a good stay. I especially liked the ability to e mail all my questions, before we left and have a quick response by either Reggie or Nathalie.

The only issue is the unit we were in was dated for example the bathroom was pink fixtures and there were some areas that needed updating, BUT the overall cleanliness of the Kira Mar made up for any updating that could have been done in our unit. I like the laundry facilities and the breakfast offerring. Both were no charge!


I would stay there again with no hesitation!!! They book up quickly so if you want to stay there contact the Kira Mar early

We spent 3 nights at the Kira-Mar just prior to Christmas. What can I say, everything was superb. The villas were well maintained and spotlessly clean, as were the pool and the surrounding areas. It couldn't have looked better, decorated for Christmas so tastefully. Reggie and Natalie, who manage the villas, could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We didn't have a car but found it quite easy to get around. It was about a 10min walk in one direction, to the shops and many restaurants on Las Olas Boulevard (don't use Mango's if you want a leisurely meal, we had 2 courses and were out within 25mins, the waitress standing over us with our main courses while we were still eating starters.....talk about fast food!). In the opposite direction from the Kira-Mar, it took us about 20 mins to walk to the Beach and the water-taxi, which cost $11 for a day ticket. Bus tickets were $2 for all day and the bus stop was at the bottom of Hendricks Isle, a few minutes walk from Kira-Mar. Whilst there we visited Bonnet House and Museum, quite charming, and recommended for anyone who likes visiting old places. All in all we had a an excellent time at the Kira-Mar and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, young and old alike.

This is a little treasure in big Florida. Stayed here for a few days after a cruise. It was great.
The owners who live on-site are very accomidating. We left the boat and showed up at 9am Sunday; while the owners were not expecting us so early, they still let us into the room to leave our luggage.
The one bedroom units are large with a full kitchen including basic cooking equipment, a dining room, living room and bedroom. The bath is right off the bedroom and also a large closet. The room is very clean, updated nicely and the bedroom has a TV, besides the big one in the living room. All units have A/C. The one bedroom units still have original kitchens & baths, but have been kept up extremely well. The furnishings are all new and modern.
Since the villa is small, you don't have to compete for deck chairs or the large pool. There is also a large gazebo to eat under or just relax at night in and there are BBQ's for your use.
The location is not bad if you are going on foot. The oceanfront is about 15min. walk and the strip inland is about a 20min. walk. If your there for just a few days, a cab will be ok for the once a day you may need it, but if you are staying longer, I would recommend a rental car.
