After travelling all day from Edmonton, Alberta we finally got to our hotel at about 9.30 pm after a mix up with hotels and 2 expensive cab rides. We were quite hungry by now and asked the guy at the front desk of the hotel if he could recommend a good restaurant for us. He recommended "Las Vegas" a Cuban restaurant across the road from the hotel. My husband is not the adventurous type when it comes to food and he was sceptical. Anyway it was the only restaurant in the area so we thought we'd give it a try. When we got there we were welcomed by Hector, who was friendly, helpful and helped us select a meal as we are not very familiar with Cuban food. I like seafood and he hepled me select a wonderful fillet of fish with a light parsley sauce and rice. On the side were fried bananas and black beans. For my husband he selected a chicken dish baked with ham and cheese in a marinara sauce, also with rice, fried bananas and black beans. While we were waiting for our food, we had some drinks and the food came relatively quickly. And it was "out of this world". We would recommend this restaurant to anybody staying in or passing through Fort Lauderdale. The atmosphere is wonderful, the people are friendly and helpful and the food is great! And not to mention the value for money. I will make a point of visiting this spot again whenever I get the chance.
