We stayed at the Ramada because the price was relatively good and it included breakfast as well as a free shuttle to our cruise port (remember to make a reservation the day before to save yourself a place). The hotel itself seemed a little worn, with standard budget motel-type accomodations - but it was adequate, and everything worked in the room. Probably the nicest thing was the lovely tropical landscaping around the pool!
. We thought the hot breakfast was pretty good, with lots of choices. However, the hotel is a long walk from the restaurants on the main road, and you can't really walk anywhere else for dinner. However, we discovered that there is one nice marina restaurant hidden right at the end of the street the hotel is on - if you walk to the end of the block, you can have a lovely dinner outdoors on the back patio overlooking the water.

  • Liked — Excellent value; free breakfast, free cruise shuttle service
  • Disliked — Motel-style entry; worn furniture

My family and I (5 of us) along with 9 others stayed here for one night prior to taking a cruise from Port Everglades. Overall the experience was OK. I knew when booking that this was not the highest end motel - we only needed a place to lay our heads for the night and a place the kids could swim for the afternoon.

First overall impression was great - the lobby is quite nice and gives an impression that things have been updated. The front desk staff was helpful and patient with tons of people checking in and checking out for their cruises. Next impression was of the pool area - this was very nice - Tiki Bar and pool area were just what we needed after a very early flight.

Once we got to our room though... pretty disappointed. The rooms have obviously not been updated. Surprisingly, the beds were quite comfortable but other than that - it looked as though our room had been broken into a number of times with the state of the door (like a crowbar had been used to force entry). This didn't make me feel very safe and the walls were quite thin so you could here a lot that went on around your room. The bathroom was ugly - clean but ugly and it looked like the tile had been re-grouted a hundred times or more.

The location wasn't the greatest either - I read it's 1.5 miles from the airport and 1.5 mies from the cruise port. I've been driving for over 18 years and don't ever remember it taking 20 minutes to go a mile and a half - with no traffic. But - I probably shouldn't complain about that as the transportation was free and prompt - just a little misleading, I guess.

They also included a free breakfast - it was OK if you picked the right things to eat!! Some items were good, some weren't. Again, nice that it was included though.

Not sure I would stay here again - probably only if no where else was available. But if you are not too picky about where you stay and like the conveniences of the included transportation and breakfast - then you may find it good.

Throw out the high end reviews and those that had problems and this MOTEL is somewhere in between. The truth is that this hotel is convenient for an airport pickup and cruise port drop off etc but is still just a Ramada. Our room was newly remodeled but smelled because of the air conditioner. You could hear people ouside like they were in
your room but could not hear your neighbors. I like a nice clean safe hotel. This MOTEL was clean but was not for us. Long waits for transportation to the cruise ship. Airport pickup was 30 minutes. The lobby was jammed with checkouts, transportation to the cruise ships and airports not to mention people who came to check in after getting off the ships. The free meal was a joke as they could not keep up with
hot food for the sheer volume of people there to eat it. I recommend spending a few more dollars and staying elsewhere.

Based on good reviews and a relatively low price ($100) I chose the Ramada Ft Lauder cruiseport airport for an overnight prior to cruising. I did not regret that choice and would stay there again. It was especially convenient to the airport and cruiseport. However, for those requiring very high hotel standards I would not recommend it. It appeared to be an older, refurbished hotel that was being run by very good management and helpful staff. The lobby and adjacent restaurant was very nice. So was the pool area and tropical landscaping. The location seemed safe to me. The room furnishings were pretty new and the shower had a few nice touches such as a rounded shower bar that gave you more room and a good showerhead. The room cleanliness was adequate with room for improvement. The mattress and bedclothes, while comfortable and adequate, seemed to be a bit lesser quality than some other motels I have stayed. Also, while it was evident that the carpet was regularly cleaned, I would have preferred it to be a bit cleaner or newer. The air conditioner worked OK. We were picked up by the hotel transport at the airport very quickly after a call and in the morning we were taken to the cruiseport ontime at no extra charge. The free hot and cold breakfast in the morning was excellent and served in a nice setting. So I conclude my review by saying that this hotel is a good choice for a quick overnight, especially if you are trying to save a little cash. But if you want luxury, this is probably not your place. I would stay there again.

  • Liked — convenient, good breakfast, good value, adequately clean, nice landscaping
  • Disliked — not luxury, smell of carpet cleaner

We were going on our cruise on Sunday, 09/23, so we were booked for Saturday, 09/22. We drove from New York and actually arrived on Friday, 09/21. I dealt with Steve at the front desk, he was extremely helpful and managed to accomodate our needs, a King bed, non-smoking and first floor. Remember Saturday was totally booked and Friday, when we arrived was nearly booked. During our stay and return Steve was great.

The hotel was clean, well kept and nice looking. Our room was comfortable, clean, and roomy. The shower was strong and hot.

There was a free hot breakfast, the staff was good, place was clean, breakfast was good, hey it was free, it worked. Please be advised that on the day of the cruise the dining room gets very crowded. We ate a liesurly breakfast at 7:30 A.M. then went back to relax in our room till it was time to go to the lobby.

We opted to take the park and ride. For $6 a day (compared to parking at the port for $12 a day), Their shuttle service was quick and reliable.

The downside to the location of this hotel, is if you do not have a car you MUST eat at the hotel. Since we had our car we had no problem with shopping and restaurants.

Ramada Inns are making all their hotels basically the same, so you have consistancy whichever hotel you stay at. Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant and would use again.
