I know the Mai Kai is a mecca for every tiki-file to visit at least once in their life time. And that's all it's going to take for me.. once in my life time.
The food was passable but more expensive than what it was worth. The staff was both helpful and well, just bad. We were seated outside on a cold and raining night. We asked to have a table inside and was told that it was colder inside. We asked again and told there was no seating. All of this information came from our waiter. I finally went to the desk and asked to be have a table inside. He says 'no problem' and within seconds we're seated inside where there was plenty of room and it was much warmer!
the Mai Kai is something you should see once. It's a flavor of the by gone days when people sit and sipped cocktails, ladies dressed in tight fitting bodices and poofy skirts and men dressed in thin ties and slim fitting jackets. The Mai Kai today needs a good cleaning and needs to be brought back to it's former glory.
