Made a special long distance trip here after reading about it in Sven Kirsten's 'Tiki Road Trip'. If you are into retro Tiki - this is the place! Did happy hour in the bar first, then had meal and show. Not cheap, but good quality. Cocktails were a little pricey but pretty good. Food was surprisingly good. Great experience. Make sure you visit the garden too.

not the best asian food I've eaten but the entertainment and the ambiance make it a good choice for semi-special ocassions. The trick /challenge is to get a good table!

After seeing mixed reviews I was a little doutful that I would find the Polynesian Tiki Restaurant I had longed for at the Mai Kai. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the great food we had for dinner. We didn't do the show, but chose a nice table by the waterful. I had a whole crispy fish and my husband choose the duck. Both entrees couldn't have been more tasty and the portions were large. The Tiki bar is a must! Happy hour has two for one drinks and they are potent. The gift shop was a disappointment as they didn't actually have much "tiki" or even any cool mugs etc. The actual restaurant is looking a little worn (ie. needs new thatch and some TLC) but that didn't ruin the experience. It's well worth a visit if you are in Fort Lauderdale.

If you like a dinner show, this one is fun, educational, and exotic. Food is pretty good too. Atmoshpere is excellent. Nice place to bring a date.
