I was very disappointed in our dinner at Casa D Angelo in Ft. Lauderdale on June 28th. We arrived early without reservations but the dining room was empty. We were seated outside on the sidewalk (for those of you who have NOT been to Ft. Lauderdale in June, it's HOT). The overhead fans helped but it was still warm. We were told we would have to sit outside because I was wearing jeans and my friend was wearing shorts. While eating we noted an elderly man arrive using a walker wearing blue and white striped shorts being seated INSIDE. Then a young lady with very tight blue jeans entered with an older couple and they were seated INSIDE. Then a middle age lady wearing spike heels and a skirt short enough to be embarrassing entered with a gentleman and they were seated INSIDE. I paid the check and went back inside to question why others who were not meeting the dress code were allowed inside and was told "they had reservations!".
(Of note, when we asked for more bread, we were told that only the first plate of bread was complimentary. I assured our waiter that we could and would pay for more bread.)
I have been to this restaurant before with friends for special dinners and was very disappointed to find out that the dress code does not include EVERYONE, only select people.
Call for reservations to avoid being embarrassed !
