This is the place. I have lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for over 35 years and dined in many of the restaurants that they offer. I have searched for the perfect Italian dining experience that would make me stop trying other establishments. This is THE place. The dining area is is comfortable and not crowded. There are several areas to dine in depending on your comfort level. The service is exceptional AND friendly. The owner is on hand to ensure that your experience is memorable. The wine list is long and has a wonderful variety to it. The prices are not outrageous either. The food will bring you back. Besides the daily specials, the staff will alter the menu to fit your needs or desires. My wife had a wonderful chicken ravioli in mushroom sauce, which was not on the menu, but she asked for. I had the lasagne alla bolognese which was outstanding. When we return again here, and we will, it will be hard to experience another dish without returning to this proven entree. The bread and bruschetta was very good. The portions were so large that we were actually too full to try dessert, but I'm sure with the attention to detail that Cafe Vico pays, it will be wonderful. The ambience in the entire restaurant is wonderful and the entire staff is most helpful and friendly. Stop trying other Italian restaurants in the area. Try here and it will be your "home" restaurant also.

“Great reviews, great expectations, utter dissapointment”

Having read great reviews, we had high expectations. However, the food was, at best, disappointing. I wanted to have putanesca with spagetti, instead of penne, and without anchovies. The waiter assured me that my request was no problem. My meal was delivered with penne, instead of spagetti, and had an overwhelming anchovie flavor. Before ordering, I asked if the putanesca was pre-made, with anchovies and was told no. Either the waiter was inattentive and put the order in wrong, or he just plain lied to me. This was our first and last visit to this restaurant. Not more than a minute north is Casa d'angelo, where the wait staff is attentive and the food is delicious and cooked to order.

My wife & I have been to Cafe Vico many times, each time a great experience. While the 'regular' menu is excellent, the specials are just that - truly special - and some of the best things I have ever eaten. The ambiance is very pleasant, the staff professional and courteous, and the owner a real professional. One of our favorite spots for reliably great food.

“Very good food but a couple of comments.”

My wife and I dined at Cafe Vico and found the food was very good but had just a couple of comments.

The restaurant is in a small strip of stores and from the outside seems unimpressive which is a shame because the inside looks very nice. The inside is exactly as it appears on their web site. [--]

We were seated at a table in the back of the room to the left as you enter. The only problem with this location is it is next to a service area where the waiters are constantly grabbing glasses, cheese, the dipping oil for rolls etc so it was not as intimate of a location. The chairs were a little wobbly and need to be reglued and some more padding in the seat would be nice.

We were greated by a waiter and handed the wine list. He asked if we wanted clear or sparkling water, never mentioning that he was offerring us bottled water and never offerring tap water that we later saw other guest being served from a pitcher. The only problem being when we received the check we noticed the clear bottled water cost $6.95. I felt we were taken advantage of but I didn't complain as I was generally satisfied with the overall dining expierence.

My wife had their Caerase Insalata and said it was the best caesare salad she has ever had. I had the Pasta in Fagioli soup and it also was very good.

For dinner my wife had one of the daily specials the seafood ravioli in lobster cream sauce which she thought was excellent and I had the veal parmagina. I asked for homemade spaghetti instead of the penne pasta and they obliged my request with no problem. The veal had to be the most tender veal I have eaten in my life and I have had veal parm in many restaurants. I was a little disappointed in the spaghetti as it's not what I'm used to in homemade spaghetti. The spaghetti was very heavy or dense and I'm used to homemade spaghetti being very light and soft.

Service was okay. The waiter that takes your order has several assistants that he has bring your food and drinks. I thought it took too long waiting and actually had to ask twice to have a drink and butter bought to my table. The after dinner coffee took about ten minutes to arrive after requested.

I prefer to have grated cheese sitting on my table to use as needed and they have a waiter shread cheese from a block of cheese when your dinner arrives. Not that there's anything wrong with that but just not what I prefer.

The owner stopped by the table to ask how we enjoyed the meal which I think in any restuarant is very important customer relations.

Our final costs for 2 was $98.00. Overall a good dining expierence.

you can do much better at other italian restaurants and pay equal

amount of $$$ and ceretainly pay much more.

always amazed at the high meal price people will pay for a pasta

dish.
