“The nicest little resort on Ft. Lauderdale beach!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2008

Overall this was a great vacation. My wife and our son stayed at this little quaint resort in the heart of fort lauderdale beach. While there are many upscale resorts in the area, this is the best bang for your buck. The reason is that the hotel is small and has a beautiful pool that gets sun late into the afternoon. We stayed at other larger resorts on the fort lauderdale strip, but their pools were shaded by the by 2:00 PM b/c of the size of their hotel towering overhead. The staff was wonderful and catered to our every whim. The tours were fantastic that they offered through the resort.

I would definitely come back to stay again!!!

We spent a week here on a time share exchange. The staff is wonderful. The units are basic, clean and the location is perfect. This is a great place for those that enjoy taking walks. It is possible to walk north to the Galleria, or south to large park /picnic area on the ocean. Also close to Bahia Mar and Swimming Hall of Fame. Beautiful sunrise photo opportunity here too. The beach area just to north is primarily occupied by gay males, but if you stay in area just in front of this property, you will be fine. They did a midweek cleaning, which was new to us. Also units had supplies such as paper towels, salt and pepper, and tissue that you normally don't find upon arrival. Kitchen area is small, but we didn't do a lot of cooking so it was fine for the two of us. We would stay here again just because of the staff and great location.

We were traveling with 3 boys so the one bedroom with two pull out sofas was a little tight. The place was in a little old, but nicely maintained and very clean. The staff was very helpful and offered us warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived. They also offered free VHS and DVD movies to borrow. Everything in the full kitchen worked well. The pool and grounds were very nice and there was a great view from the pool area of the beach. The location was great and close to everything. The resort offered beach towels to use each day, and had a free midweek room cleaning.

  • Liked — Location. Friendly service.
  • Disliked — There was a large concentration of gay men on the beach running around in skimpy swimsuits, sporting nipple rings, wearing cowboy hats, and getting a little crazy. It wasn't the sort of thing most families want to see on the beach.

My Fiance and I stayed at the Silver Seas for 3 nights, and we will be back. You can't beat the location, and the property and rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only complaint I had was the bed in the studio. It was a pull down bed, and while that was great in that it gave us more room, the bed itself was pretty hard and uncomfortable. It was fine though for 3 nights, but if we were to stay longer we would get the 1 bedroom. As far as the quality of the room you could tell it wasn't a new property by any means, but they have kept everything up nicely and you could tell the appliances were newer, it also looked like it had been painted recently, and the furniture looked pretty new too. The people in the office were very nice. The pool was nice and clean and they had a nice sundeck for people watching on the main promenade. Everything was in walking distance, w/ many bars, shops, and restaurants w/ in a block or so. The beach was beautiful, as always. All in all this was a great place to stay, as long as you are not expecting the Ritz. Not sure how much longer it will be here though, as there are many huge hotels going up all around it. I hope it is still there when we decide to return, b/c we will stay again! :)

This property is located across the street from the beach (as all Fort Lauderdale beach locations are). It is in a good location with many shops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance. Rooms have different bedding configurations with a kitchen set-up. Overall, it is a tired property, but has been maintained. Staff is very nice and friendly. Rooms seemed very clean. No problems with parking. If you're looking for an average accommodation in a GREAT LOCATION, this might be for you.

I have now stayed here twice and the first thing you realize is that the Silver Seas is a timeshare property and not new construction. Beyond that it is very homey with a better than average staff who will do what they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. My large two bedroom apartment - too large to call it a hotel room - was well equipped and clean. The elevators were hit and miss when we first arrived but were fixed within 48 hours. Great location across the street from the beach and convenient walking distance to shopping and dining at Beach Place. I had a business emergency come up during my week there and the staff did all the faxing back and forth for me for less than what Kinko's would have charged and I didn't have to man the machine.

Overall the Silver Seas is a very nice pleasant place to stay and a perfect example of just how important attentive friendly staffing is at a resort property. Having stayed at many of the other Lauderdale properties, the Silver Seas is clearly superior in that regard.

What the reader needs to realize is that the Silver Seas is a Timeshare. Most timeshares in the USA do not provide the same services that the major or even independant hotels offer (like room service...maybe no daily maid service)

The Silver Seas is an old apartment hotel built sometimes around or after WW2. In about 1977, it was converted to interval ownership, one week intervals-ie-timeshare.

It is three levels will elevator (lift). The rooms are older but IMO adequate for a weeks stay at the beach. Parking as of June 05 was free. But many do not feel they might need a car, except to pick up supplies (grocery as Publix or Winn Dixie is a distance).

On watertaxi route, at the Beach Place Dock.

We viewed for purchase a one bedroom sleep six on the second level. We then stayed in the unit for a week. Most units are studios, one or 2 bedrooms.

It had Mexican tile flooring, except the bedroom, which had a blue (shag) rug....which was to be replaced by the next refurb. Their were windows on 3 sides, with two side ocean view. The new St Regis will block the views to the right (south). (It is next to the St Regis Resort and Marriott Timeshares. Small coffee shop sells Barnies Teas & Coffee. Walk to all restaurants, and the beach is across A1A N. Beach area has rentals for jet skis, two lounge & unbrella (all overpriced IMO)

Rooms were clean. Bath was from the 1960s, full sized tub, enlongated toilet, and a wash basin. Kitchen has a small 4 burner (i think gas) stove with a 30 inch oven (looked original from the 1950s) and 18 cu ft refrid. Maint fees & taxes then were near $700 a week, which is why we didn't buy. Lady said big refurb due.

Staff very helpful.

It is right next to Marriott Beach Place and the Starwood St Regis, the Sheraton Yankee Trader, and a favorite for lunch, the Cafe Casablanca....one free lunch with one on weekdays. (go to TA dining for ideas).

We also stayed in the Marriott Beach Place Timeshares two weeks than, and they are pretty new....but the Silver Seas was a place we would also stay. (At least they don't charge T/S guests for parking). If you need to compare the Silver Seas to Marriott, first check pricing. THen check convienence. It is almost a mile to get your car out of the Marriott parking section in Beach Place. And it cost $12.00 a day. No charge at the Silver Seas, for street level (but exterior) parking.

We would stay again.
