My husband and I just stayed at the Atlantic from September 10th-15th using hotel points. I had called a few days before to confirm and asked for an upgrade. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a one bdrm suite with a full ocean view. Very, very, nice with all the upgrades! Fully equipt kitchen, 2 full baths, and a VERY large double shower in the bedroom along with a 2 person tub. The bed is very comfortable and the Bose sound system is nice. Although the stay was nice, here are our negative comments: they are building another property next door so there is alot of noise all day long. The hotel sits right on A1A so the traffic was very loud from the 7th floor. The beach is directly across the street, however, there are no restrooms or food/drinks available. If you want a chair and umbrella the City workers come by and collect $30 for you to rent them! The daily parking fee at the hotel is $28 per day. The food in the hotel and surrounding areas is very expensive. This is ok for some, but not our cup of tea! We ended up going to the grocery and taking advantage of our full kitchen for breakfast/lunch and then going out at night for a nice dinner. If the beach is what you are looking for, this one is nice. Otherwise, there isnt much to do except eat and shop. Both of which are very expensive in the area. We rented a car from the concierge through Hertz and they were there within 20 minutes. With the map provided by the hotel, we enjoyed sightseeing and just venturing out. Overall the trip was nice, and the hotel and staff were great. Just not alot to do in the area and its very expensive. This hotel is also small compared to the others in the area, but very, very nice. Also, this is our second time taking a vacation in September and we will not do it again due to the high temperatures. It was in the mid 90's all week and around 85 at 10am and very humid. I would think October would be much better!

My wife and I, along with our two kids – six and two – stayed at The Atlantic at Ft. Lauderdale, FL, for a week in August. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. The staff are very friendly and very willing to please. Our suite was a large, very clean, one bedroom with a well equipped kitchenette. The room was quiet and we did not hear any street or construction noise when porch doors were closed. As we settled into the room, we encountered little annoyances which wasn’t enough to complain about, but enough to get noticed – inconsistent housekeeping services, two pairs of slippers but only one set of robe, turndown service coming at 9:20pm and 9:40pm – a bit late for us, traffic noise on A1A when sitting on the deck and the freezer like bathrooms in the swimming pool area.

There are Starbucks Coffee in the room and NY Times and Miami Herald was delivered every morning. The pool was small but adequate. In my opinion, had the hotel been full, the pool area would run out of room. Eating poolside is limited to a small menu but the food was good. One odd encounter was that the kid’s menu burger is the same size as the adult menu burger, except for an eight dollar difference. The service seemed slow during midweek but picked up during Friday – Sunday. The beach is across the street and there are no amenities on the beach - only beach chairs and umbrella for purchase from a vendor. The water is clean and child friendly, especially during low tide. Beachside food and drink services are much needed. The hotel restaurant, Trina, is very over priced and the food poor to fair. I ordered their paella, which was indicated as their signature dish. I ended up rejecting the paella because it was extremely salty. My wife had two appetizers which she thought was fair.

In general, Ft Lauderdale is going through a lot of changes; however, the 1980’s spring break mentality still linger in certain spots on the strip; therefore, if you’re looking for the unlike-college nightlife, culture and diversity, South Beach is a much better choice. Personally, I would not return to Ft Lauderdale. The Atlantic was a nice place to stay; however; the lack of hotel amenities, as well as, the bland nonexistent points of interest on the strip would prevent me from returning.

This hotel made the begining of our honeymoon awesome. We were on our way to Cancun when hurricane Dean showed up, and we ended up stuck in Fort Lauderdale where our layover was. We spent several hours at the airport trying to figure out where our luggage was, and using the laptop to try and find a hotel. After hours of frustration and searching, we decided to go with the Atlantic. We were so lucky!!

The hotel is gorgeous, it is literally right across the street from the ocean. We had no problems checking in even though we had only booked about fifteen minutes before arriving. Our room was upgraded because they had sold out of the room we requested. We didn't know how many nights we needed to stay, so we only booked one. Turns out we needed two, and the front desk worked to make sure that we got a room even though they were fully booked, and then went out of their way to give us the same room the second night.

Everyone who works here goes out of the way to be friendly and helpful! The room is gorgeous and very clean, very luxurious. Our balcony had two chairs and a table and the most beautiful veiw of the ocean!! We had a stressful two days, talking to dozens of people trying to fix the travel arrangements and save what was left of our honeymoon. The view of the ocean from the floor to ceiling windows was so restful, it calmed us down and helped us keep level heads when dealing with frantic airline personel and resort workers.

Trina, the restaurant, is delicious. It has alot of seafood and not a huge selection of chicken or beef, but the food is fantastic. The creme brulee is the best I've had. Room service is prompt and thoughtful. Every need is taken care of.

We never planned on staying in Fort Lauderdale, and if we had been anywhere else this could have been disasterous, but with the outstanding accomidations, service, and view, this hotel helped us keep the first few days of our marriage/honeymoon serene and relaxed in the face of an unexpected hurricane.

  • Liked — Everything was perfect, and if something was wrong they went out of their way to fix it immediatly.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. We were treated like royalty as soon as we stepped out of the car. We never touched our bags the entire stay. The conceirge and staff were always so helpful. The beach was beautiful and the hotel was very quiet. We only ate at the Trina Restuarant once....it was ok but there were other restaurants a few blocks away that we walked to. Also the spa is wonderful.....we had the couple's massages. The room was so romantic and very peaceful. We will defintitely return to this hotel.

I stayed at The Atlantic for one night as the Hyatt was sold out for my first night in town. I wish I had stayed at the Atlantic the entire duration of my visit. The hotel is very nice.

Check-in: The guy at the front desk was quite conceded and had the audacity to ask me when I was leaving. I had not even set my bags into the room when he asked me what time I expected to check out of the hotel. Its not a horrible question, but it does not set a good tone for a visit. He was ready for me to leave. Thus, the check in experience was a turn off. Starwood Platinum guests... this hotel does not allow you to pick your amenity... they send something to your room. I would rather have had the extra points, but they sent up some chocolates. They actually sent me up grapefruit martinis... but I am allergic to grapefruit and I dont really drink. They were really nice about it, and sent up some chocolate, but it’s a big bummer not getting those points.

Room: I received a Platinum upgrade and had a suite. The room was really nice and big. It faced the north side of the building and thus did not have a direct view of the beach, but I could sit on the balance and face the face if I wanted. The bathroom was huge... bed comfortable... and the living room was nice.

Gym: Very nice gym. Its small to medium sized gym, but it has everything you will need. Free weights, cardio... its great. Loved it!

Pool: Nice... small, but nice. Cucumber cold towels are provided to keep you fresh... a supply of water... fresh towels... nice provisions. I dont like to drink at the pool thus the no wait staff is perfect. I hate staff bugging me about drinks. If you like staff waiting on you, they are not there... but if you like to enjoy yourself in solitude... it will work for you.

The beach is across the street.

Trina: The food was ok. I would not consider it amazing... a bit pricey for the food I received, but it was good… above average.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. I am writing in response to your comments concerning your Platinum amenity. As a member of Starwood's Luxury Collection, our welcome amenity for our Platinum Guests must be indigenous to our locale. Therefore, we are unable to offer the choice in amenities that other hotels are able to offer. However, I am pleased to give you the points that you would have received at other properties. I invite you to contact me at the hotel with your Starwood Preferred Guest membership number, and I will happily credit the points! Thank you and have a wonderful day.
