This is a first class establisment! The front desk is personable and accomodating - Ceasar & Ingrid especially! Spacious, upscale rooms are gorgeous. The 5th floor, spa - pool area is awesome. Good work-out equipment. Service & food at the pool area could be improved. Bar & Restaurant are beautiful. Valet parkers even have great attitudes.

We are a family with 3 kids and I was not sure it would be a good hotel for the kids but worked out very well. Right across from the beach. VERY RELAXING!

Was here for three days - this is the first of the new breed of combination hotel/ownership scheme on Ft. Lauderdale beach. There is a Trump, Hilton, W and St. Regis in various stages of construction on the same road. If you want to enjoy the area before the masses descend, this is probably the last season to do it.
The Atlantic belongs to the Luxury Collection in SPG so I feel compelled to judge it based on those standards.
The staff were uniformly excellent, well trained, friendly, willing to help, always moving out of the way for guests in hallways, elevators etc. I had a one bedroom suite with a decent ocean view. The bed was comfortable with high quality linen. There was a kitchenette with a two burner stove, microwave, all utensils for cooking and eating but just a small fridge which was full of mini bar items, no room for anything else. The fridge did have an icemaker which was great. There was a Bose DVD player with radio with a Bose speaker system in the living room of my suite, along with a bose radio in the bedroom. The bathroom was large and well appointed, with very thick towels. When I got to my room there was all the fixings for an exotic martini drink, including two bottles of premium vodka and a shaker as a welcome. Very nice.
The pool is on the fifth floor, the pool area is broken up into two areas. The beach chairs are practically on top of each other in most areas, the pool is adequate though. The pool area is fully wheelchair accessible including the bathrooms, which even have a shower that is accessible. The exercise room is near the pool area, also very well equipped.
There are only two elevators, I can imagine this presenting a bit of a problem at peak occupancy.
Parking around the beach area is difficult, valet is $27/day. My car was either waiting for me or the wait was less than 5 minutes each time. The hotel was not full though.
Now for the very minor minuses, but due to the Luxury collection association, I feel they need to be mentioned: When I got to my room there was a roll away bed in the middle of my living room, which I had not asked for. It took three reminders over 8 hours to get it taken out. I ordered breakfast from room service, it was there in less than 20 minutes, but milk and a spoon were missing, as was butter. The icemaker in my fridge had been turned off. It was easy to turn back on, but the ice would not be ready for a while. A promise of ice being sent up in the meantime was not kept. Picky, but only due to the level of service advertised.
Overall, a great experience, but by the end of 2007 this will no longer be the exception, it will be the rule on once quiet Fort Lauderdale beach.

My mother and I stayed here for one night Dec 2, 2006. We requested two rooms on high floor as close together as possible, preferably connecting with no feathers in the room due to allergies. I was impressed that they emailed us to determine our expected time of arrival, supposedly to try to have the rooms ready for us and to make check in easier. It seemed to be a hotel that would provide considerate service to its guests.

We were to be cruising prior to arrival, so I emailed the Atlantic to that effect and estimated an early morning arrival, requesting rooms ready for 9:00 am. We didn't arrive until 2:00 pm, so I thought our rooms would be ready. Not so! We were told that the rooms would not be ready until 4:00pm. However, shortly thereafter we were told that one room was ready. We asked if the rooms were connecting? No, they were not even on the same floor!! When asked if we could change rooms for ones that did connect, we were told that the type of room that we had booked did not connect to another room. (This would have been good information to have been told when booking. I booked online, but called the hotel to confirm requests.) We went looking for a bellman to help with luggage, but he was nowhere to be found so eventually we carried our own bags up to the room. Inside the room, we noticed a connecting door (odd, in a room that supposedly did not have this feature). Also, Mom started to have trouble breathing - feather pillows and duvet!! Called housekeeping and asked for feathers to be removed. This procedure took about an hour to complete. Mom had to wait outside. All of our bags were now in this room and it was only about 30 mins before 4:00 pm so we decided to have something to eat while we waited for the other room. Service was innndifferent at best. For example, when I asked if the Mahi, Mahi BLT was basically a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, I was told No, it's just a fancy name. I was confused, but thought that it must contain other ingredients beginning with the letters b, l, and t. I didn't want bacon. When the sandwich arrived it was mahi mahi, with bacon lettuce and tomato on bread??!?

meanwhile, my room was ready after we ate so I went to move my bags down to the lower floor to my room. Guess what! Another connecting door and more feathers!!

The rooms were huge, but poorly designed so that the space was wasted and simply made it an effort to have to go so far to get to everything. I was over heated and the temperature controls didn't work so that I didn't sleep well. i tried to get a drink of ginger ale from the mini bar, but someone had already opened the only bottle that was in there, so I left it by the sink.

In the morning, there was a charge for 27.00 for valet parking on Mom's bill (we didn't have a car). It was removed, but was just another hassle.

We never felt welcomed, had our requests ignored, were uncomfortable and had too many problems to be happy with our stay. This was supposed to be a well rated hotel, but it definitely failed to come anywhere close to our expectations.

I would never bother to stay here again, nor would I recommend it to my friends.

We had a two night pre-cruise stay at the Atlantic using Starwood points October 12 and 13th and found that it lived up to it's reputation as a five star hotel in every sense of the word.
We were cheerfully greeted by the res clerk and told that as SPG gold members, we had been upgraded to a 9th floor 1BR suite overlooking the ocean. The bellman assisted us to our room - explained everything and offered his services should we require any help as well.
The room was huge and extremely opulent with a lovely contemporary decor - modern furnishings - absolutely huge bathroom with a large soaker tub/double sinks/separate w/c and the largest shower I've ever seen - must have been 6'X3'! The bathroom amenities were Gilchrist & Soames - not that I was familiar with them but my wife indicated they were very high quality which they indeed turned out to be.
Bed was comfortable - fully equipped kitchen with microwave/fridge etc and the standard Starbucks coffee. The balcony overlooked the pool area and the ocean and had a small table and two chairs. Just a wonderful view!
All the staff we encountered in our two night stay were friendly and greeted us as though we had had been there for months. We had lunch and breakfast in Trina's and the food was excellent - expensive, but what you might expect in a hotel of this calibre. The concierge and front desk staff greeted us each time we passed by and were very pleasant. We enjoyed one morning at the pool and the bar steward was extremely attentive and genuinely friendly as well. We both agreed that we could not have selected a better venue to prepare for a Caribbean cruise!
We did encounter a noise issue from the next room about 1:30 in the morning of our second night which did not subside and a call to the front desk resulted in an expedient resolution to that problem.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone and can't wait to return!

My work recently brought me to Ft. Lauderdale so I decided to stay on the beach. My experience at the hotel was smooth from check in to check out. The valet guys were attentive and the bellman Lacel from Jamaica was friendly and cordial. The way a bellman should be. Nadine checked me in right away and what a bonus. It's a Starwood hotel so I get my Starwood points too! Great!

Found the rooms to be huge and the bed was wonderful, big plushy pillows, cool sheets, etc. The in room coffee was Starbucks so I didn't need to go out for it in the morning and the mini bar was stocked with gourmet goodies.

I ate in Trina's and had the flatbread pizza. It was very good and was a "signature item". The restaurant was slow but I think I was there in the off season. It's great for people watching as it's right on the street level where you can watch everyone pass by on the boulevard.

I went for a run right along Ft. Lauderdale strip which is outside the front door. The hotel is in a great location. Minutes from downtown and Las Olas with shopping, restaurants and nightlife and to Broward where most of the corporations in Ft. Lauderdale are. It's also only minutes away from the airport.

Unlike another tripadvisor reviewer, I had no one knocking on my door so maybe that was a fluke. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel for business travelers, couples and for weekend family getaways. Also, I took a look at the spa but didn't have the time to have a treatment. It looked divine!
