My wife, infant, and I stayed at the Atlantic for five nights the first week of June on a Starwood Preferred Guest Award. Right from the beginning this hotel was absolutely fantastic. I do a lot of business travel, and usually stay at Sheraton, Westin, Marriott, Hyatt, etc.. This hotel was definitely one notch up, on par with a Four Seasons, or Ritz Calton. I would go as far as to say it was the second nicest hotel I've been at, behind the Four Seasons in Maui.
We pleasantly found out that we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom Deluxe suite! This room (about 800 sq ft) was on the 10th floor (wonderful view). The going rate for this room was about $849 p/n. The rooms had all of the luxuries you would expect. Gilchrist & Soames amenities, plush towels, robes, in-room safe, huge marble bath, small kitchen, all with granite counter tops. The bed was the Heavenly Bed, and the shower was the best I have ever had. The room had two big flat screen TV's, a Bose Waveradio bedside, with a Bose Stereo System in the LR. The rooms also had evening turndown/towel/cleanup service. The room was spotless. There were no beat up furniture, or walls, or stains. This room was pristine.
We reserved a crib, and it was very nice for our infant. It was a real crib, with a very good mattress, and bumpers on the sides. It also came with a soft warm blanket for the baby.
The service was the best. We had multiple requests during our stay, extra towels, clean up etc.. They were very prompt in our requests, and never let us down. The management was constantly seeking feedback on our experience with the hotel. They were extremely attentive to details and service.
The pool area was also great. The umbrellas are limited, so get there early to stake your claim for the day! The pool attendant and servers were all very nice and helpful. Towels are provided for the pool, and the beach.
The beach is across the street. It is very close, and you can run up and down to your room in only a few minutes. It is a public beach, so the chairs and umbrella rentals are not with the hotel. They run $29 per day for 2 chairs, and an umbrella. This is a pretty typical price no matter where you go. This part of the beach is far enough up the line that you do not have a lot of people on the beach. It is a pretty quiet stretch. We never had anyone crowding us.
They are building a new Trump International Hotel on the South side of the hotel. It can be fairly noisy during the day, but not in the late afternoon, or early morning. The windows, and doors are soundproof, so you do not hear the noise unless you open the sliding door. Some may complain about it, but you still have great view of the ocean, and the construction is kind a neat to watch! It was not a problem for us. Request a high floor on the ocean or north side.
The food in the hotel is pretty expensive as expected. What we did have for Room Service, and Poolside was very good.
We did not take advantage of the spa services, but the Spa looks pretty nice as well, and they have a full compliment of services if you a looking for them.
I really do not have too many negative things to say about this hotel. The $27 per night valet parking is pretty expensive, considering there is no self park. That's it though. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Ft. Lauderdale.
