“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The decision to stay here was made on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and was a good one. On arrival after a long flight from Australia we were pleased to find we had been upgraded to a king suite. Perhaps this was due to our membership of the I Prefer Hotels Reward Program. The suite was large and very well appointed. Service was excellent from the reception to the dining room and everything in between. The only downsides were that you really need a car to get anywhere as the hotel is very well located for the beach but not really anything else. We did go and see Bonnet House which is nearby and spent several hours there as it was so interesting.

Room Tip: Personally not sure that the rooms overlooking the beach are worth the extra cost. They also overloo...

Great location at the beach. Suited in a Quiet part of the beach. Walking distance to several nice restaurants. The room was large but in need of upgrading. Some furniture was
bumped on the edges and one lampshade was teared. The Internet wich is free didn't work properly, but when we pointed that out they tried to fixed it at once. We lived in room 806. The staff was helpfull and friendly.
Don't miss Yo mamas popcorn & ice cream bar, only 5 minutes walk north from The Atlantic.
The fitness room was great. Not so big but enugh. The bathroom held both bathtub and shower! Really great!

We stayed for three nights while waiting to take our cruise.Even though we arrived late in the evening off a transatlantic flight the staff were more than helpful and our room was fantastic, enormous size with the most comfortable beds and even a fully equipped kitchen area which my wifw and I used every day to make teas and coffees in the room.
The biggest asset to the hotel for us was Sheryl Luke the concierge in the lobby. She made it her job to see that anything we wanted whether booking sight seeing trips or advice on shopping or restaurants was provided accurately, efficiently and all with a lovely personality. As travellers with no previous knowledge of Fort Lauderdale we found that she made us feel right at home.
Pool area furniture needs some updating but I understand this is being addressed, we would certainly stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: front rooms have balcony with fabulous views of beach front.

We stayed at this hotel staying only 2 nights while preparing to embark on a Seabourn Cruise to South and Central America. We arrived late in the evening and were pleasantly surprised by the effort the hotel staff put into providing us with a room service meal despite the kitchen being closed.
Our ocean front suite upgraded by the hotel, comprised 3 rooms including a kitchenette which we only used for coffee and drinks, a living area and a bedroom. The suite was clean and very comfortable and meals could certainly have been easily prepared in the kitchen.
As we really had only one day in Fort Lauderdale, we chose on the next day to take the intercoastal cruise to which we were directed and advised by the friendly hotel staff.
Breakfast was American style and adequate. However, we chose to breakfast outside the hotel on one occasion.
The balconies overlooking the beah were a pleasant location for a pre-dinner drink and noise was not a problem.
We found this hotel ideal for our purpose and enjoyed a pleasant stay enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff. If we return to Fort Lauderdale (unlikely) we would stay there again.

We recently spent three nights here prior to starting a cruise. We had arrived late after flying for 19 hours from Australia, so we were pleased to be made most welcome by the staff and even more delighted to be shown to our spacious and comfortable suite. The restaurant and bar were features of this property and again, the friendliness of the staff was a feature.

We thoroughly enjoyed unwinding for two days after our long flight and were fully relaxed by the time we left for the cruise terminal, little more than 10 minutes away from the hotel.

Although we did not have a car, we enjoyed visiting nearby Bonnet House and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, both an easy walk along the seafront.

We shall be most happy to pay a return visit to the Atlantic Resort and Spa!

Good Location. Lovely Ocean Front Room with Balcony furnished to a high standard with all the facilities in the kitchen - Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Kettle, Toaster, Coffee Maker, glasses, pots, pans, cutlery.

We particularly appreciated the complimentary breakfast and the food was very nice although our order was sometimes a bit hit and miss . We didn't eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast. ALL the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

We did have issue with parties on the terrace under our balcony - having paid a premium for Balcony and Ocean front view. The music did turn off at 10.00 which we appreciated. We did not however appreciate the loud live band on the Saturday evening and this did spoil our enjoyment.

We were fortunate to be introduced to the new General Manager, Christopher and raised our issues regarding the parties/noise and the hit and miss ordering in the restaurant. He reacted exactly as we would have hoped he apologised and assured us this would be addressed for the future.

One final point which we did not get to raise with the hotel. The fire alarm went off the following day at 2.00am on the Monday morning. We could not hear the fire alarm in our room. We thought someone had turned the tv on loud. On investigating we opened the bedroom door and heard the order to leave the building. We vacated the 12th floor via the stairs and on exiting the building were aghast to discover that only us two and another couple, plus the receptionist had vacated the building. There were 3 fire vehicles present. We raised the fact that we could not hear the alarm with the receptionist and were told that the incident was on the 5th floor and therefore the alarm sounded 3 floors above and 3 floors below!!!! What about the people on the other floors and what if it had been a real fire. The fact that only 4 people left the building when there are 14 floors would suggest that others didn't hear the alarm It doesn't bear thinking about had it been on fire. The alarm went off again at around 6.30 am and we had to be up for 7.30 to leave so yet another night without sleep.

Having said all that we did enjoy our stay and it is a lovely hotel with lovely staff. I have tried to give an honest account of our stay.

Room Tip: Room 1206 Ocean front with balcony

Thanks for your note. It was very nice meeting you and having you as our guest. I'm sorry that you were disturbed by a fire alarm during your stay. The alarm condition that we experienced does not activate the whole building - rest assured that it would if a different type of event has occurred. I hope to welcome you back in future.

If you are looking for a good quality hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The Atlantic is the place to stay. WIth a ten minute taxi ride from the cruise terminal at Fort Lauderdale we arrived at 10.30am not expecting to be able to check in but to our surprise it was no problem at all.

The side sea view room was large with a lovely large bathroom and kitchenette. The room was spotless and was kept that was throughout our 3 night stay.

This hotel is across from the beach and within walking distance to the Galleria Mall. Restaurants and bars are close by as is the water taxi about 10 minutes away Dining in the hotel restaurant was a pleasure and with Vouchers for a continental breakfast made this a great hotel. They really can't do enough for you.

Would I book this hotel again? Definitely. And if you want a good hotel in a lovely location then you should too.
