My friend and I spent two nights at the Sea Gate after being turned away from the neighboring Vistamar Villas, where we had a reservation. The Vistamar owner had somehow overbooked and offered to call the Sea Gate to see if they had room. We had spent a week at Vistamar the year before and had returned to Ft. Lauderdale specifically to stay there, so we were disappointed to change hotels.
The Sea Gate turned out to be pretty comparable to Vistamar. Our room at the Sea Gate was larger and cheaper, but also dirtier and more run-down. We liked having our own kitchen and we used the grill to make ourselves dinner by the pool. We were also happy to find the monkeys from the Bonnet House outside our back door in the morning. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for bare-bones accommodations near the beach.
