This was first time ever for me to stay in a all-male resort. I did not know what to expect before I arrived. Yet I have to say it was a pleasant stay for me. Both resort owners - Warren & Ric were very friendly and helpful, though they were only on the property for certain hours during the day. Warren was a terrific drink maker and I enjoyed what he made for house guests. The property itself was kept clean and comfortable. House guests were friendly as well. Due to the small size of the hotel (8 rooms only), it was easy to get to know other guests in a fairly short amount of time. If you enjoy a nice, quiet and comfortable all-male resort, New Zealand House would be a great choice.

  • Liked — Clean & Comforable
  • Disliked — It's not a 24-hour staffing facility.

I visit gay resorts so that I can enjoy clothing-optional settings with other men and release some of the everyday stress. "Hooking up" is never the prime reason, but is great if it happens. New Zealand House is a great atmosphere for what I enjoy. The clientele is very pleasant - at least it was last weekend - and Warren did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable, including pouring some wonderful drinks. I recommend this property to those who want a clean, safe place to stay without having to pay a fortune.

New Zealand House is where hospitality meets personality...The hosts, Rick and Warren, set the tone with their graciousness, humor, and friendliness...and after a few of their famous poolside cocktails...the guests begin to relax and unwind...If this was a "reality show" called "Gay Guest House", it would win an Emmy!...No lack of entertainment on the premises...The rooms are comfortable, the house, yard and pool are immaculate, and the location is central to the bars and the beach...add the guests from all over the U.S., and you get a week of fun, sun, and relaxation in a paradise-like setting. I strongly recommend New Zealand House and will return!

I booked 3 nights in the New Zealand House as a pre-cruise stay. The rates for the stay was excellent and came in at about 60% of what I was being offered elsewhere. I was a little worried about this - it just didn't add up that the most popular place on Trip Advisor was also going to be the cheapest. However, I had nothing to worry about.

The property is off one of the main roads in FLL and there is free parking outside the property for about 8 cars. It can get a little congested there in the evenings but nothing really to worry about. I rang the doorbell and was greeted by Ric. Immediately I felt at ease and welcome. After registering in the office I was shown to my room. I stayed in the North Island room which had a view of the pool. The room was spacious and very clean. I loved the attention to detail in the room and the fact that they left little things like DVD's, Magazines, Books etc and changed them each day.

The Bathroom was a good size and was spotless - cleanliness is my number one requirement in anyplace I stay and I had nothing to worry about here.

A light breakfast is served each morning - self serve of a pre-prepared dish. There are some tables and chairs in the shaded area for you to eat at. The pool is a good size. It's not Olympic but It can easily accommodate everyone who wishes to use it.

The property is smaller than I imagined. The website appears to make the grounds look massive but it is in fact a compact site. There is beautiful shrubbery all around and it is very private. It is clothing optional and there is no chance that you care going to "scare the horses in the street" by appearing naked around the pool.

Warren was SO attentive. Each afternoon he came around to everyone and offered cocktails and drinks. And he kept coming back to refill. I was waiting for the massive cheque to arrive but it was all on the house - a lovely touch.

Regarding location - there is a Walgreens and some fast food places two blocks over but in reality if you want to see anything of the area you will need a car. This is true for just about anyplace you stay in Fort Lauderdale! I rented a car from Enterprise which is one block away from the New Zealand House. I would suggest that you call and reserve something though - I ended up taking the only thing on th plot - a pickup - which was a lot more expensive than I had hoped. A reservation would have saved a lot of money. Wilton Manors is about 8-10 minutes drive away and you can do it by taxi if you like. I tried walking on my first day - not to be advised unless you like to really work out those legs!

OK - on to the negatives... Hang on - I'm thinking...

I'll be back!
