We had an absolutely wonderful time at the New Zealand House. The hosts Warren and Rick were great - always attending to detail to ensure our room was in tip-top shape, friendly and conversive - they even made us free martinis daily while we splashed around in the pool around happy-hour!

The grounds are well-kept in a tropical theme, so you really do feel you're in a little oasis in the middle of Fort Lauderdale. The pool is kept nice and warm, so even if it's a little cloudy you're still very comfortable.

Grocery and liqour stores are practically across the street, so if you want to share a nice Shiraz or grab a snack it's only a quick stroll away. The New Zealand House is central to the gay scene - while not directly in Wilton Manors, we found it close to the bars, shopping, and the beach.

We will definitely go back, and highly recommend this place to stay.

I had an extra day free after visiting family in Florida and spent it in Ft. Lauderdale at the New Zealand House. The weather was not cooperative, but my welcome could not have been any more warm and sunny. The room looked to be recently renovated and was in pristine, perfect condition.

The other guests I met at the hotel pool were friendly and sociable, and Warren, the owner, was very kind and accommodating. I'll definitely plan a return visit on my next trip East.

This was our first trip to Ft. Lauderdale and we wanted an intimate gay setting, that was clothing optional and allowed smoking. We browsed thru the few places we could find and liked what we saw on their website, so we decided to try the New Zealand House. It turned out to be very casual and comfortable. The owners, Warren and Ric were both very hospitable, and we loved the complimentary apple martinis and cosmopolitans by the pool! The free breakfast was ample - fresh bagels, coffee, juice, fruit, cereal and yogurt. The room was very comfortable, with everything we needed, and the price was right at $109 a night (off-season). It's not real close to the beach, 2 miles or so, but there are several gay hangouts which are nearby. We definitely will return next time we visit Ft. Lauderdale.
