When choosing a guesthouse in Fort Lauderdale the top choices are clear....The Royal Palms, Pineapple Point, Flamingo or the Coral Reef. While the first three are all very nice (and pricey) the Coral Reef is the obvious choice for its relaxed ambiance and unbeatable location. The Coral Reef is on a quiet street in the Coral Ridge section of Fort Lauderdale, a very exclusive residential neighborhood that's centrally located near shopping and a lot of restaurants, as well as being near the beach. We usually enjoy staying at small boutique hotels and have stayed at the Coral Reef 3 different times. The property has only 8 rooms and is comprised of a group of buildings around a beautiful swimming pool. The landscaping is a tropical delight, loaded with vegetation and manicured with lots of care and detail. On our most recent visit we stayed in a suite which was large, very eclectically furnished, and had a nice, small kitchenette. The baths here are not especially big, but very adequate. Housekeeping service is good too. A very informal continental breakfast is served in the office in the mornings. All in all the property is well maintained and very attractive. The service is friendly without being over-familiar. After staying at many guesthouses in Fort Lauderdale, we will remain loyal to the Coral Reef.
