Business took me to Ft Lauderdale and a two night stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown. The hotel is located on Andrews, two blocks north of Broward. After picking up a rental car it was about 10 minutes from the airport to the hotel.

The hotel has a multi-level parking garage attached. Because it takes a room key card to enter, you park on the side of the hotel, check in, and then park your car. Even though the hotel was full, we had no trouble finding a parking spot on one of the higher levels. Check in was friendly and reasonably fast.

My two colleagues and I arrived very late and were pleased that our room preferences were honored. Two of us received accessible rooms X309, but the only difference we could tell was the bathrooms. My room was #309, far enough from the elevator to not be bothered by the noise. One thing that I really liked about the hotel is that both walls in my room were concrete. There was no noise from adjoining rooms whatsoever.

My room was pretty much the Hampton Inn standard with a Cloud 9 bed. Personally, I found the bed too soft. There were two each feather and foam pillows. There were nightstands with lamps on both sides of the beds, but no convenient electrical outlets.

The hotel offers complimentary wired high speed internet access in guest rooms. It takes an authorization code to gain access which is supplied at check in. The desk was large and the office style chair comfortable.

The room had a TV, refrigerator, microwave, and electronic safe large enough for a laptop computer. There was also an arm chair, but no ottoman. The air conditioning unit was located under the window. It did a great job of cooling the room, but was, in my opinion, too noisy. I had to turn it off to sleep as one of my other colleagues in room 409 did also.

The bathroom was fairly large and very well lit. There were towels enough for four guests. Bath amenities included shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath gel, and mouthwash. There was a mounded hair dryer in the bathroom. The in-room coffee was located on the bath vanity. My room had a combination tub and shower. Water pressure was excellent and hot water flowed very quickly.

Like all Hampton Inns, the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast in the morning. The breakfast room is on the 2nd floor of this hotel. One morning the hot entrée was English muffins with scrambled eggs and bacon as a topping. The next morning was pre-made waffles and sausage coins. There was also fruit, yogurt, cereals, and breakfast breads. The coffee was good.

The hotel has a swimming pool on the 2nd floor facing south so that sun is not blocked by the hotel. There is a large business center next to the lobby with four PC’s and printers. Internet usage is complimentary and convenient for checking in and printing boarding passes. Also in the lobby area is a micro market with snacks, drinks, frozen foods, and toiletries. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

The Hampton Inn Downtown Ft Lauderdale is not a resort hotel, but great if you have business in the area. All of the hotel associates were friendly and the hotel was very clean. It is my pleasure to offer it a very good recommendation

  • Liked — Downtown business location and attached secure parking garage
  • Disliked — Somewhat noisey AC and soft bed

This hotel is great...very clean, well maintained! They even gave me free breakfast coupons and free wifi access.

But, the staff were pretty unfriendly and dint have the normal attitude you would get at a Hampton Inn/ Hilton!

But still this hotel is worth every penny you will spend for it!

My wife, kid and I stayed at the Hampton Inn City Center Downtown hotel August 3-5. This is a nice hotel. It is definitely a good value for the money, considering its downtown location.

Check-in: Quick and easy. Didn't need the reservation number, just the last name.

Room: Pretty nice. Beds & pillows were comfortable. Had a fridge and microwave included. Bathroom was good, with all the expected goodies. Safety box did not work and, after contacting front desk twice and receiving two promises, was never fixed.

I must note that you need your room key card to use the elevator, the laundry room and to access the parking. Excellent. Felt safe all the time.

Breakfast was decent, with plenty of hot/cold options, cereals, breads & juices. Plenty of tables available.

Check-out: Just as easy as check-in Less than 2 minutes.

Recommendations: When a request for a repair is made to the front desk, we expect them to come through. I had to carry our passports in my pockets for 3 days because they did not attempt to fix the safety box.

Would go back again, anyway.

I spent a chunk of time looking for a hotel for two days for our extended family to stay before heading out on a cruise. I kept coming back to this one because of the reviews written in the last 6-8 months on Tripadvisor. I looked elsewhere as well.

I ended up emailing the hotel through their website and received emails back from the manager, Patsy, and her assistant manager. They offered me lower prices than I could find on any website.

There were two things that concerned me: 1) no free transportation to and from the airport or the cruise port, and 2) some of the reviews of the surrounding neighborhood. When I called and talked to Patsy, she informed me that they had just begun testing a van for transportation to and from the ports. It still wasn't free, but my transportation woes went out the window. (We ended up renting two vehicles for the 10 of us so it was a moot point). Although some of the neighborhood could raise concern, we never felt 'threatened' even though we walked down to the RiverFront for supper and shopping. (I will say that walking by the bus station did give the girls some willies).

As we entered the hotel for the first time, we were greeted by a very friendly staff not to mention the free coffee and cookies. The lobby area was attractively decorated. Upon checking in we found out that two of our three rooms were on the 8th floor and one was on the 4th floor. She asked if that would be OK and I expressed our desire to all be a bit closer together. She immediately found another room on the 8th floor for the third room. While it wasn't right next to the others, the floors aren't so huge that it was very far away. We were pleased. At check-in we also requested a roll-away which was delivered within 15 minutes. Smiles all around!

The rooms were clean and attractive. We had no broken, ripped, or peeling areas. the wireless Internet was great and there was also a network cable I plugged into my computer and it worked even better! While we had no problem with our room safe, one of the other rooms never did get theirs to work although they quit trying and put there stuff in our safe. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and we all slept well. I would have slept better the first night if my 14yo son wouldn't have hogged so much of the bed!!

The breakfast area was large and overlooked the pool. We had several hot items every day along with cold cereal, hot cereal, fruit and pastries. There were also hot drinks including coffee, hot chocolate, tea, as well as two kinds of cold milk. The breakfasts were included and quite good. There were plenty of free USA Todays to read while eating or you could watch a flat screen TV. I overheard some kids saying they had hooked their game machine into the flat screen TV in the dining area and played late at night.

I wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone...especially if you want great service, room, and breakfast for a very reasonable price. The next time we go into Fort Lauderdale, I'll call and try to get into the Hampton Inn City Center hotel first!

I'll put in a quick plug for the Holiday Park Airboat rides and sport fishing with the Lady Pamela II crew. We did both and found them both to be excellent activities. The Everglades didn't look like we thought and our prize fish were ‘trophy’ Barracudas!! We also ate at Tarpon Bend and had excellent fish! It's just a few blocks from the hotel in the RiverFront.

  • Liked — The service.
  • Disliked — You have to put your room key in the elevator to get above floor 2.

This hotel is very clean a nice! You have to use your room key once you get in the elevator and then choose the floor you wish to go to. It has garage parking, but the garage is very narrow. So if you are driving a hummer you certainly will not be able to park in the garage. If you are going to Port Everglades it is about 3 miles from the Port. My husband and I enjoyed it very much. I love Hampton hotel's, I am a Hampton girl!
