When is a hotel, not a hotel? When it's the Pillars. The accommodation is a small boutique hotel, based more on the Motel principal than the Hotel. The location, gardens and pool area are pretty faultless, in what used to be pretty much a waste ground for decent accommodation. The rooms themselves are nice enough, without being exceptional with virtually everything you'd expect from a hotel in this price bracket. You could argue that they could do with being updated, but that would be pretty churlish, as it all adds to the beach house charm of the place.
What sets this place apart though, is the service. All the staff we encountered were incredibly patient and friendly, amazing considering our party included one wheelchair bound, and one very unwell person. They helped us organise all manner of things for our few days in Ft Lauderdale and really made us feel at home. They also do virtually everything, which can lead to a slightly less prompt service than you might usually expect, but then you are on holiday, no?
