My partner and I found the Schubert on Orbitz and chose it after comparing several gay hotel websites in Ft. Lauderdale. We are very glad we chose the Schubert. Check in was easy, parking was only steps from our room, and the room... VERY nice! It was large and beautifully appointed with a huge king bed (very comfortable)and stylish sofa and TV armoire. The wet/bar area (with sink and small refrigerator)in the room served us well for snacks and drinks. The bath was handsome and had tiled floor and walls and a black granite countertop with undermounted white sink bowl. The hotel was well maintained and nicely landscaped. The pool and in-ground hot tub were great. Ample outside seating (both covered and uncovered seating) was available. The lobby is pleasant and nicely decorated. The staff was WONDERFUL! and the continental breakfast each morning was tasty. Newspapers were available in the lobby to read with your breakfast. The location is only steps from the intercoastal water way, and in a good mid- location for visits to the beaches or the bars. Next time we go to Ft. Lauderdale we will surely plan to stay at the Schubert.

I just returned from a week at the Schubert. It overlapped Presidents week so the town was really alive. If you are looking for something right on the beach this is not it, but I feel it has more to offer than the ones by the beach. It is a beautifully maintained resort, close to some great shops and restaurants. It is conveniently located to many of the attractions or is a short walk or ride away. Located in Victoria Park, which is the quieter gay area, adjacent to Wilton Manors, it offers so much. The staff is very attentive and worked out any problems quickly. Unfortunately, they were having some repairs done due to the hurricane, but that was not under their control and they were very apologetic. The rooms were large and very nicely decorated. The room I had included a king bed, sofa, large kitchenette with under counter refrigerator and microwave; make sure you stock up on items so that you don’t get a mini-bar charge at check out, and big bath/dressing area with a great marble shower. I liked that they had an in-room safe, but did not know that they charged $1.50 per day for it. There is no voice mail on the phone, make sure you use your cell phone for local calls since there is an access fee on local calls. Pays to take a minute and read the rate card. Recently remodeled they kept the 1950's charm. The pool and hot tub are in a large clothing optional area. If you go make sure you are by the pool, my original reservation was 'off-pool' and that was over by the office section of the property. That would not have been such a bad thing, but I always like to be able to see the pool when I am in Florida. The breakfast area and lobby were a great place to meet and know your fellow travelers. Very diverse group was there when I was. The only things that I thought were sub par were the breakfast and the happy hour. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, it would have been nice to have more fresh fruit and not so many packaged items. The happy hour was a little dull, just wine and beer and nothing to nosh on, due to the renovations I think many guests stayed away. I hope to visit them again for my next visit. Enjoy your vacation!

This is a great place to stay. As others have said, the fact that the beach isn't right on your doorstep needn't be an issue: it's a nice 20 minute walk away, or just a few minutes in a taxi. Having said that, the pool area is lovely, and you could easily spend a week just hanging around it.

There are some nice restaurants within walking distance. We did just fine without a car, but there's certainly more to explore if you have a vehicle. I suppose it's just what you want out of a vacation.

The rooms were tastefully appointed with quality everything. The only slightly disappointing thing is that, for the price ($150 and up per night), I'd really appreciate a china coffee mug (call me a snob)! The kitchenette was a lovely addition: an even better idea would be two sets of china/silver.

The staff is very friendly, and we met some nice people there, too. We'd certainly go back, but we'd bring our own cups and saucers!

This place us superb. Great rooms, Great Staff, and very accommodating and flexible.

We came into Ft Lauderdale for a long weekend at a time that ended up being between hurricanes. The resort we had originally had been planning to stay at (Royal Palms) stunned us with how poorly they handled their issues getting back up to speed after the first hurricane. (From my perspective when the establishment is not able to accommodate you at the promised time, or even on the promised day they should be inclined to a.) Let you know beforehand, and b.) Be willing to return your deposit. I WISH they had a place here I could post what I think of THEM).

In every way the other resort seemed to shoot themselves in the foot the Shubert seems to excel.

I really did not miss being closer to the beach, and there really is a nicer range of eating and entertainment options near the Schubert.

The Schubert also had a nice lobby and Happy Hour that people would gather in and in turn it also helped make meeting and making friends with other guests even easier.

This place, the staff (housekeeping, the handyman, the desk staff, all of them!), and the owner (Tony) made what could have been a disappointing weekend into a real treat!
