I stayed at this Retro Schubert Resort for two night. The staffs were great! Met with the owner, Mr. Schubert. Very nice guy! You can see his pictures all over the lobby.

The room was clean and roomy. The bed though, was not comfy. It's a bit old and it hurt my back a little

The pool was good and warm. But during the day there was not much to do. All the guest were out and the music at the poolside was "Endless Love." [-] Talking about Retro.....

The outdoor hot tub got some actions at night, which was fun. But, it's always a lot more fun to go over to Wilton Manors's Bars and Restaurants if you want to meet hot guys. (This means you will have to drive or get a taxi. So, you cannot drink as freely as you want.) Staying in the resort meant that you would have to try your luck. If there were some hot guests, you were lucky. If not, all i could have said is, "Sorry......!"

The location is not that great. It's better during the day as it's close to some local restaurants and stores. But as for gay life, it's not an ideal place.

The resort used to have a very sexy retro sign as you can see in their ad, which was one of the main reason I wanted to stay there. It seemed very fun and classy. But it's gone and never got rebuilt. Very disappointed.

It's not a bad place to stay. At least it's a lot better than staying at the Alcazar or other places near the beach. But, if you can find a nice place in Wilton Manors, like the Ed Lugo that I have stayed, go there. You will have a very different experience and a wonderful trip. At least, you don't have to drive or get a taxi to the Alibi or Rosie's (which are the Must!!).

Nice small place. Good rooms. Not much to do when it rained on us, but the hot tub is still warm late into the night. Not a lot of people, but then apparently January is an offseason, though we paid full rates.

My partner and I stayed there for only one night on a quick run thru Ft Lauderdale to visit family in the area. This was my first time staying at a gay/mens clothing-optional resort. Over all, I enjoyed the experience, tho I was a tad let down by the property.

We arrived just before the office was closing. The staff who greeted us was super nice and check-in was quick and painless. The room was indeed large and convenient to the pool/hot-tup, but I felt the decor was really sad. Believe me, I like retro modern and live in a house full of wonderful 50's/60's furniture. I just didn't think it was truly retro... just dated like a bad garage sale. I thought the bed was terrible ... bad mattress, pillow and linens. I didn't sleep well ... it was like staying at a real motor lodge by the highway! Oh, and the A/C was super loud, but I am in the HVAC industry, so I am a bit picky ... most people like the white noise.

However, on the night stand they had handy little wash cloths (we call them zambonis, lol) and tissues for cleaning up, and, thank god, no bible in the drawer! Lastly, tho I spent a lot of time in the hot-tup ... it had an excessive foam problem and the water looked murky compared to the pool. So, I google'd the cause of foam in a hot tub ... the conclusion is they need to (a) encourage people to shower before entering the tub and (b) be more diligent cleaning, treating and filtering the water.

The good news: The room was big and had lots of windows (we had an end unit). The staff was great. The property overall was nicely laid out and landscaped. The location was nice. The continental breakfast was convenient, had great selection of juices and served it's purpose perfectly for us, but it was nothing special. The pool scene was fun ... I was a tad worried that I was going to have to be "on guard" the whole time for fear of lecherous trolls, but was pleasantly surprised by the diverse group of men who were all pleasant. Everyone would introduce themselves and engage each other in conversation. Sure, it was flirty, but in a wholesome, fun kinda way. The pool was warm but refreshing and the hot-tub was hot but not too hot.

It was so very refreshing to hang out with a random group of naked men and feel so relaxed. Though, overall, I enjoyed my stay, I would probably try another similar property ... just to see what else is out there. I do wish I could have stayed another night tho.

  • Disliked — Room interior ... beding and decor.

I stayed here through the Thanksgiving Holiday and really enjoyed my stay here. There is much to like.

Arrived late and they made sure I had the gate code and left the key for me. Room is HUGE with a nice kitchenette and a nice bathroom. For some reason the more space I have in a hotel room the more I enjoy the stay. Tons of space here, room is updated with nice finishes. Property is maintained beautifully, great public areas to eat, sun or just chill.

Also kudos to the employees, EVERY single one was polite, accomodating and considerate. Service is wonderful here. Always felt at home.

Some minor tweaks and I mean really minor - The kitchenette is really nice, but no amenities , i.e. plates utensils etc. Easy enough to get from the front desk, but if it's late and the office is closed you have to scrounge a little.

Continental breakfast every morning. Nicely presented and a nice touch but it was really just the basic Costco Bagels and Danish just dressed up. (Even so, unlike other guesthouses, they didn't enforce a deadline, again very accomodating and you woke up late and wanted a Costco Danish.

Location was nice -walking distance to the Galleria and a local mini mall and The gateway Cinema. Not too far from the bars.

Two thumbs up

I recently spent a short visit in Ft. Lauderdale, and decided to stay at the Schubert Resort. I found the staff to be most friendly and accommodating, the room to be clean, well-kept and comfy, and the other hotel guests to be welcoming and laid back. The hotel is well-located near the beach and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shopping at the Galleria. I will definitely come back to the Schubert again on future visits.
