My partner and I just returned from another great stay at The Retro Schubert Resort in Fort Lauderdale (6 nites). As always, the place was great --- the rooms are oversized with king bed, newer baths, kitchenette, central air, huge windows, etc. Request a room overlooking the pool. The property is well-kept (and recently painted), the pool kept at a nice 85 degrees, and they have an excellent hot tub, too. Breakfast is more than the basic continental that FLL resorts tend to serve (due to some silly food licensing requirements) -- although a bit repetitive after 6 mornings.
One of the best features of The Schubert is the staff. David and all the guys take really good care of guests --- and go out of the way to say " hello" and ask how things are going, etc. We've stayed at places where the owners and managers don't even seem to notice the guests' presence. Kudos, guys!
During our week, an RSVP cruise ended and an ATLANTIS cruise was leaving so we had the opportunity to meet some fun guys from around the country, too.
Although some resorts may advertise "the hottest guys", etc--- they obviously cannot predict who will be there any given week. There was a wide mix of guys in all age ranges, and most everyone was friendly and outgoing. The place also had a good vibe going and a fun/frisky atmosphere.
OK, before you think I'm the owner's brother or something --- if I have to come up with something to improve upon: a FRI and SAT afternoon happy hour would be nice, pool towels could be upgraded, and some chaise lounges should be replaced.
But, all in all, this is our "every trip to FLL" destination. I definitely recommend The Schubert. Feel free to contact me at Quincy_Guy@mindspring.com with any questions.
