Plain and simple: This hotel is clean and 1 block away from the beach. We had room service every day: our beds were made and there were clean towels every day. I must add, that nothing disappeared while we were there. The room has a kitchenette, which is great since I would buy bottled water for drinking or even making tea and coffee. The management is pretty nice and helpful. They will tell you where the closest grocery shop and a diner are. I would not stay in the hotel for a romantic getaway, but to go there for a long weekend with friends, its perfect. If you are interested in more then just sunbathing all day long, I recommend renting a car to make your vacation more comfortable. Definitely take a water taxi, its $10 for the whole day. All in all, the stay was enjoyable and I would recommend it for people who are on a budget and looking for a vacation with friends.
As for couples, just go to a Caribbean resort!! ;-)

I reviewed this hotel and booked online after reading the reveiws on this site, boy what a mistake! I booked a room for 2 days and paid in advance with a credit card on the same day of my check in, as we had decided to relocate hotels from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale. When I arrived I asked to see the room prior to checkin in... What a dump! The hotel is old and not kept up well, the pool while the water appeared clean the exterior was run down and the room looked like it had never had any updates. The plastic baseboard was peeling off the walls, the floor was old tile, the kitchenette area countertops were waterdamaged and peeling. The hotel owner would not give me a refund since I paid in advance.......Needless to say I chaulked it up to experience and moved on.......I wouldn't have my dog stay here! The Bahia Mar is the same price (actually a little cheaper) and while they dont have kitchenettes, the room cleanliness and amenties make it a much better deal.

I live in fort lauderdale, now and then i need to get away from the hustle and bustle of my life. (Including my son). So I will gather my things and stay for a weekend. They allways give me a good deal. I enjoy the location, and the time to rest, and enjoy life (without phones and faxes)
