We stayed here for four nights in mid-January. Our experience was okay, not great. Priceline called it a three star hotel. I would not. I called the hotel before we arrived because I had read a number of reviews on Tripadvisor that were less than positive. After speaking with a hotel employee, I requested a renovated room. Being a Holiday Inn Priority Club member helped me get a renovated room which was pleasantly furnished with contemporary furnishings, new carpet, drapes, bedspreads, mattresses and updated marble tile bathroom. The room overall was fine, just some overpaint on the wallpaper border. Our room was toward the end of the hall which was where it was quiet. Since we were on the third floor, we could not see the beach through the palm trees. I asked for a higher room, but none were available. Yes, it is across a busy street from the beach, but I did not find it too noisy. An occasional loud muffler or noisy motorcycle went by, but not really bothersome. However, I would find it more convenient and relaxing to be on the beach side of the road. Pool area was not attractive, just basic and I felt it was too enclosed by the 6 foot high cement wall around the pool area. Though there are many palm trees, I think the landscaping could benefit from some flowers and low shrubs. Guests frequently pass by the pool area through a large metal gate which makes a loud clanging slam when it closes as people go to the parking lot across the street behind the hotel. I found that less than relaxing. The tattoo shops and biker bars behind the hotel are rather seedy. I paid $90 through Priceline for the room, but someone else walked up to the front desk and I heard her say her travel agent got her a room for $65. Not sure what her deal was. Would not want to pay full price for this hotel. Hotel management would not adjust my price lower. Overall, I felt the front desk staff, hotel management and bar tender were not trained well in how to greet customers nicely, and to go out of their way to help guests. It doesnt cost any more for good customer service. I would not stay at this hotel again.

I got this hotel through Priceline ($130per night) and we stayed Jan 12th-18th. We had stayed here before about 4 years ago and I was glad we got it because of the location. The beach is just accross the street and some great quick eateries are nearby. We started out in room 201, which had not been redecorated and was very shabby. The carpets were wet and we were told they'd been cleaned, but the next day we came back to a huge puddle of water in front of the bathroom! So, we move to the 12th floor, which was OK, but had a beautiful view. The bad thing about this hotel is you can forget sleep! You can hear everything that goes on in the next room or on the street. On the morning we left, you could hear a man down the hall screaming at the tops of his lungs at someone and hitting them, so we called security. When we checked out, they put a $99 "accomodation" charge for switching rooms, but they took it off since it's wasn't due to our request, but it bugged me it was on there because they would of charged us if I hadn't brought it up... In the future, we will stay elsewhere, even if it costs more because the hotel is poorly managed and noisy. FYI parking is $9.55 a day, so factor that in as well.

We stayed here for two nights prior to a 7-day cruise in early January. I got this place on Hotwire for a reasonable price. Would not pay full price for it.

We knew this place had undergone some renovations recently and requested to be put in a renovated room. We got a non-smoking room with a king-size bed on the 8th floor. It was clean (big point for me) and did not smell.

One negative point is the walls are paper-thin. We had a couple with a small child next door and the kid may as well have been in our room, we woke up when it woke up (too early!) and could almost make out their conversations.

I agree it is a noisy area and the hotel is definitely not the Four Seasons but it was fine for a couple of nights. I would choose another hotel for a longer stay but if you can get a reasonable price I would recommend it for a night or two.

My family of 4 stayed here while my husband was working in the area. I got a price of $100 thru Priceline so I was happy because of the beach location. I was very disappointed in how run down the room was. The carpet was absolutely filthy with many, many stains on it. I wouldn't let the kids play on the floor because I was afraid of what germs lurked in the carpet. The bedspreads were old and cheap. The furnishings were very "tired" like no one had updated the room in a long time. I don't suppose Holiday Inn is too worried though because the hotel was sold out when we were there. The bathroom door was ripped up at the bottom and the commode lid wasn't made for it so it didn't fit properly. The beach is directly across a busy street. Parking is not the most convenient either. The parking lot is located behind the hotel by the tattoo parlors, X rated gift shops and bars. If you have kids you may want to cover their eyes when you walk to the car. We didn't have any issues with the staff. I will not stay here again simply because it definitely wasn't anything special. We got lucky before with Priceline and got the Hyatt...this time we got a very uncared for Holiday Inn.

We stayed for 4 nights DEC. 28 to Jan. 1, 2005 The shower did not work when we got up in our first morning and after several calls to the front desk and maintenance in and out of the room, they finally moved us. We suggested them to move us at first but refused. The whole situation took well over 2 hours of our vacation. The rooms did have a musty or Smokey smell to them. We went over to the galleria and bought a plug in airfreshener. We enjoyed cafe Bluefish behind the hotel and Primanti Bros right along side. It took us about 20 mins to walk to Beach Place. We caught a bus a few times right in front of the Hotel for 1 dollar. this could be a much better hotel if they would do some fixing up. Overall we enjoyed our trip. I will look for a different Hotel if I return to south Florida.
