I drove in at 11pm exhausted, otherwise would have left. During unloading car, got to witness a nice fist fight between two women (very low tooth to tattoo ratio) exiting the bar on the property. In the 5 minutes of walking around on the sticky carpet, my feet were so black that I washed them before getting into bed. The cold shower the next morning was refreshing. Free continental breakfast was minimal to say the least. Staff spoke with heavy accents, and unfriendly.

I stayed here on the way to Miami the weekend before the Superbowl. Photos are VERY misleading! The carpet was so dirty it was black, and stained our feet and socks. So bad that we had to wear shoes in our hotel room. Room overlooked a dirty pool with a bar full of very loud people alongside it. No beach anywhere to be found, beach area across the BUSY traffic street is private. We had to drive quite a ways up the street before finding public beach access. (Ft Lauderdale has amazing beaches, very clean and nice.) Hotel was far removed from any sort of nightlife, (we are in our 20's) no nearby restaurants. We had to dodge traffic and walk to a nearby grocery store to get food because the soda & snack machines were all broken at the hotel and took our change. Ice machine was also broken and when we asked for ice at the bar, we were directed to the broken ice machine. No one seemed to notice or even care. Dirty bathroom mirror, window was cracked, and fruitflies were in the bathroom. Awful! We slept (barely) with the top sheet over the bed because we were so disgusted. No one at front desk upon checkout, we had to just leave the keys before fleeing because we were sick of waiting almost 20 minutes for a desk clerk. Being during the SuperBowl, there were no other hotels in the area. We booked through Hotels.com for $100 for one night and I would NEVER stay here again.

“Travel Agent Review - Disgusting!!!!”

Fort Lauderdale Plaza Hotel and Suites

Im an agent and I travel the world. I have stayed in ratholes in third world countries. They at least take pride in their shanty's. Well we took a chance and after some backwards directions we made it. The place smelled bad and we asked the young man at the desk for a good room after the hassel we went thu with his poor directions. Our room leaked water, stunk, we lysoled, fabreezed, and used raid on the bed bugs. I changed the sheets and found skid marked underwear under the mattrass, and finally the toilet would not flush, internet would not work. so we switched rooms, still no internet, beds were gross, black pin mold etc etc. The one bright thing was the tiki bar, great prices good cheap food. The staff was so so and I feel sorry for anyone who stays here. There are rooms with flat screens I hear so take nothing less. There is a very good clean boutique hotel two doors north of the place....

“DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE ROOM!”

This was the worst hotel I have ever entered...and we never even made it to the room!

I had booked this hotel on priceline, which had it listed as a 2 1/2+ star hotel (!!!!), for one night following a cruise (my only bad luck with priceline). We arrived at the hotel app. 11 a.m. No early check-in available. Okay - that's understandable. The problem? Absolutely no place whatsoever to store our bags so that we could walk around while we awaited check-in time. The woman at the front desk (a tiny table of sorts in a tiny room; not a "front desk") could barely spare the time to look up from reading the newspaper to offer us advice. Her suggestion was "just leave them in there" and waved her hand dismissively toward another room. The other room was the "restaurant" (small cafeteria-type room) and served as the main walkway between the pool area and the front entrance - she told us just to stick our luggage in the corner and leave it there - that no one would bother it. Who would leave their luggage in such an unsecured area??? We asked if there wasn't even a closet or somewhere to leave luggage...The woman was acting like WE were crazy to have such an issue leaving our luggage in the restaurant/walkway!

After sitting approximately 30 minutes with our luggage, we decided to cut our losses. I was able to call and get a full rack rate room ($$$) at Hyatt Pier 66 (GORGEOUS!!!). We informed the front desk that we would not be staying there (knowing we had pre-paid and would not get a refund) and the same woman (barely looking up from her newspaper) said, "It doesn't matter - you're prepaid here..." She didn't care in the slightest that we were so turned off by her and absolutely everything at this "hotel" that we were willing to forego our pre-payment AND pay full price elsewhere!! Hmmmm.....maybe that's the intent...

I had never before stayed at a hotel that didn't offer some sort of "room" to store luggage. Now I know to check beforehand, but the service/concern at this "hotel" was beyond description. From what we saw in the short time we were there, the public areas looked unappealing/not too clean/stains, etc.

We never made it to our room, so I can't comment on that....

In walking outside, there didn't seem to be anything around, either...

I've stayed at many different types of hotels and wouldn't consider myself too high maintenance or a "hotel snob", but you couldn't pay me to step onto this premises again.

By the way, in taking the taxi back from this hole in the wall to the Hyatt, the taxi driver was laughing that we had tried to stay here. He said he had heard it was disgusting. The front desk girl at the Pier 66 (so friendly we wanted to hug her after our encounter at Fort Lauderdale Plaza) shuddered when we told her from where we had just come.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! If you booked on priceline and got this hotel, cut your losses! (I did complain to priceline subsequently about their ranking of this hotel...)
